TLDR: incredibly narrative heavy game-play light game i very much recommend the diversity of choices and branching narratives make for a very repayable game with lots ti think about, it if thats not your thing just watch someone play it lol

i knew the basic premise of this game from having watched lets plays of it around the time it came out and very much passed it off at the time as a very simple allegory for racism, which don't get me wrong it is but theres something a lot deeper here about revolution, the idea that you can revolt with or without violence is something so many philosophers have argued over decades i personally am of the thinking that a revolution unfortunately requires violence of some kind otherwise the message is not delivered there is no stopping the oppressors from simply reverting back to being oppressors unless they are shown that thats not about to be tolerated basically you should respond to your oppressors in the way they treat you,
anyway this game has a lot of layers to it and deciding how you want to revolt is an incredibly intresting choice to give a player as well as allowing the player to view that revolt from the opposite perspective, depending on how you play both connor and markus you can see two sides of the same coin or you can see opposing forces
the use of quick time events as well as the dialogue choices moving on really quick allows for the game to feel real, i have to physically think how i wish to respond in real time, a lot of the time leading to miscommunication which with a game about androids makes everything feel a lot more human

any to finish off what is already too long of a review i went into this game thinking i wouldn't really care too much about it and was basically just playing it because i needed the ideas discussed for a project but ive come away from it with some genuinely very interesting questions to ask myself and think about, but yeah if you don't mind a incredibly narrative heavy game-play light game i very much recommend it if thats not your thing just watch someone play it lol

it feels weird to say a game changed your life but this one did.

this game allowed me to finally understand that you need to be yourself whoever that may be, do not hide what you love, do not hide what makes yopu laugh what makes you cry what fills you with unbriddled joy

this game is filled with hope and joy but also sadness and its will forever be one of my favourite games of all time both for its personal impact on me as a person on things such as my sense of humour and how i think about others but also because it is a phenomenal game in pretty much every aspect

from art to music this game is filled with so much love and it radiates so wonderfully

with determination anything is possible.
