Great game good for co-op or solo play with randoms, tons of replayability and even the paid content in game is accessible with enough time investment. Performance issues seem to have been resolved from what ive played recently so I recommend the game.

This game is awful for anyone who wants to play it above a completely casual level. Balance is terrible for a multiplayer game and the vast majority of the time you will just be upset when playing this game at any rank where survivors communicate and know how to play or killers understand that they are going to be rewarded for using strategies such as slugging (leaving injured players on the ground) and camping (rotating around and near a hooked survivor in order to quickly re hook them and remove them from the game).

Survivors players are rewarded for avoiding any interaction at all with the killer and simply rushing to finish every generator as quickly as possible and ending matches in mere minutes. The only way to prevent this as a killer realistically at the time of this review is to stack generator denial or regression perks, strangling the variety of what playstyles you will be facing on both sides. This game wildly switches between facing players who you will absolutely dominate and facing killers and survivors with builds explicitly based on winrate statistics.

This game has braindead rock paper scissors mechanics which determine how counterplay works. Flashlights have no counterplay at all as a killer player other than the lightborn and shadowborn perks unless you consider facing a wall interactive counterplay. Getting blinded in any rank against decent survivors is crippling and will ruin the outcome of entire matches. Lightborn and shadowborn also feel awful to play against as the survivors as well, making items you brought into a match useless and potentially wasting player perk slots on effects that they can no longer use. Gameplay is monotonous and repetitive, some pallet and window loops entail simply running in a circle for nearly a minute only to get the chance at a single hit on players, once you get into red ranks players will sometimes loop you for 2-3 minutes at a time if you get unlucky.

Killer variety has become stale, most killers that release now are either boring and far too similar to other killers (Onryo, Chucky, Xeno), too complex with underwhelming powers (dredge, twins, singularity, skull merchant) or they are overpowered but plagued by endless bugs ( Wesker, Hillbilly, Nurse). The remaining killers are outdated and in serious need of QoL updates (Scream, Nightmare, Pig, Trapper, Demo, Hag, Clown).

My recommendation after playing this game for long enough to become invested in wanting to know how to play is to not waste your time learning to play this game.

Easily my GOTY 2023, Fun and addictive single player with a great multiplayer only let down by small balancing issues at higher levels of competitive play. Fromsoft netcode is also bad, but not gamebreaking except in extreme cases of bad connection.

Complete waste of money. Purchased the game on sale and even the campaign is buggy garbage. Lighting effects in some maps will pierce through walls and the lens flares make it unplayable. New stealth mechanics in the campaign are cool in theory but are implemented terribly with guards detecting you from ridiculous angles or positions. Armoured guards are far too tanky and are comparable to borderlands enemies needing entire magazines to put down. The entirety of the game is designed exclusively to sell you skins and monetised items from a cash shop.
