As Sony has rescinded the change that would take our fellow Helldivers from us, I will uphold my end of the deal. I am returning this review back to positive, so long as Sony doesn't try something like this again in the future. Below in spoiler text is the original negative review detailing my thoughts on the game but honestly all I can really say is just do yourself a favor and get this game when you can.

I genuinely love this game and it hurts to do this, but this must be done. This game is the single, most fun, liberating gaming experience I've had in years. The game is amazing, it somehow isn't full of so much of the modern gaming traps and money siphon tactics. You know that feeling everyone talks about missing when they talk about couch co-op games with friends? Those hours creeping into the morning sunrise where you and your friends played Halo 2 or 3 or ODST multiplayer messing around and having a blast all night? This game brought me back to that with my friends in a way I haven't felt for a very, very long time.

I don't think I can talk this game, or the developer team at Arrowhead up enough in a way that matters to you across text. Somehow, this team feels like one of the only dev teams that I even remotely trust to act in good faith at this point. However, until Sony backs off and stops holding the people I met playing this game at gunpoint forcing them, or you, to make a PSN account in order to play the game, do not pick up this game. I met some really cool people in random quickplay matches that likely won't be able to play going forward if Sony doesn't remove the requirement. What a huge load of garbage.

If Sony fixes their monumental ****-up, then I will re-write this review and resume recommending this game to every gamer I know.

Great game, great aesthetic, very light on the system despite being super robust. Fun to build, gather and progression feels very rewarding. Great game on its own, but better with friends. Multiplayer does need some work on the back end, but it may just be my group's network setups. Very impressed with what it has to offer, and it punches well above its weight both in content and price.

I wish all early access games were like this.
