Bought it for the coop but don't recommend.
This game is a mess with bugs.

As a game its good. I also had a lot of fun playing it at times. but I just can't recommend playing it. The community is toxic, the game takes forever to learn and isn't fun to do so. Just so many better things you can do with your time

I never thought i would leave a negative review for a civilition game.
Firstly, this game has lots of potential to be a good game.
Basically, this is a good game but it needs lots of improvemts and rebalances.
Now, lets talk about the good things.
I love the affinties, virtues and having outposts instead of cities. I also love the aliens (but they need improvement) and the new setup screen with all the options. I love the variety in how you start and play the game.
On the bad side of this game.
Comepletly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unbalanced, the ai is extremly stupid, the economy is extremly stupid, the health (happiness) system is extremly stupid.
After saying that
Firaxis has 3 options here
1. they make beyond earth good by balancing the game and adding new balanced features (like they did with civ 5). It better be really good. Civ beyond earth has potential i hope it reaches. Make the terrain and the resource more recognisable. I like the affinities,virtues and outposts idea.
2. they give up on civ beyond earth and make a new civ 6 that is a new improved version of civ 5 with new features. Could be similar to civ beyond earth but on earth with recognisable terrain and resources.
3. They give up on civ beyond earth and make something completely different from civ and leave civ 5 as a memory to be remembered as one of the best turn based strategy game
Now i have said all of that i have one last thing to say,
PLEASE DONT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SCREW UP XCOM 2 PLEASE, PLEASE, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
You don't have to listen to me, i do onyl ahve 2 hours in this game. I have read lots of stuff online and seen lots of youtube on this game.
If you haven't seen angry joe's review you should watch it.
I only have the 2 hours from the free demo and i was extremly dissapointed. I thought people were saying it was ♥♥♥♥ because they were comparing it to civ 5, but no, it is that ♥♥♥♥ m8

This is a great game.
It has lots of startegy turn based challenge
The mulitplayer and story is good.
This will have you learn the game and then crush you and make you cry.
Only Easy will save you.
Don't buy if you dont like challenge
Enemy Within is a great expansion and I would recommend getting it.
