Fun game when everyone has equal opportunity.

Who would've thought that valve would make a game for multi-millionaires to play.

This is a First Impressions Review, Only reflects my thought of the first hour of the game.

Intro
Kids and grown-ups alike love to get lost in the worlds of Videogames, and there’s no better way than an RPG. Whether it's pretending to be an awesome knight, or traveling across an open world slaying evil, or even collecting money and items to become a flashy prince, RPGs are my favorite genre of game. Moral Choices and Dynamic Combat are the 2 main things I look forward to the most out of my game and when The Technomancer claimed to include these features I decided to pick it up and give it a try.

Story - 6
The Story starts off by attempting to explain the state of the planet of Mars. You play as Zachariah who is an elite protector of the people-in-training known as a Technomancer. You start off with a slightly confusing tutorial, followed by a mission to reach a certain Dome to stop looters. That’s the extent of the story I experienced within my first hour playing the game. The Journey to the dome was a typical run toward the objective marker on your map dispatching enemies along the way type deal. A Lot of the cutscenes were very strange, they didn't flow correctly from gameplay to cutscene and felt a bit rushed. The dialog had bits that felt cut out or poorly written and the characters weren’t properly introduced they just kind of were there.

Art/Animation - 6.5
At least in the first part of the game, the lighting and color palette were very dark and dull, also, there were no impressive and unique features or scenery. The backgrounds are low resolution and the textures are simple. The fighting sequences have limited animations and you can just switch animations instantly. The character designs are decent but their animations and movement feel awkward. The graphics feel like something from 2012 but the lighting and shadow effects are pretty solid.

Gameplay - 4
From the very first bit of gameplay, which was after a pretty basic character creation screen, something felt off. The character had a bit of input lag, whether this was intentional or not, and felt a tad clunky. The few animations to your character ruined your immersion instantly, and the controls were strange. The combat system was awful, you had few move choices, the enemies took a substantial amount of hits to take them down, the lock on system was a hinderance, some enemies had I-frames, or invincibility frames, where they would do a certain animation and couldn't be damaged, sometimes they couldn't even be hit if they stood still, the sneak attack was useless it only did about ⅓ or the damage needed to take out an enemy, the dodging didn't always work so you would be hit trying to dodge out of the way when you only go back about a step or two, after you defeated your enemies some could be looted others couldn't and the ones that you did try to loot 90% of the time, wouldn't have anything on them, and don't get me started on that boss fight. The mantis had a very limited moveset, very predictable but, it was extremely challenging to me because of his size, the size of the room, and the area of effect on his attacks.

Sound - 4
The track playing in the main menu was pretty good but the music during the first part of the game was pretty boring and annoying. Most of the voice acting was bland and emotionless, especially our main protagonist.Zachariah. The humor was dry, the sound effects were simple and the ambient noise was full of sounds of machinery and industry adding to the setting but couldn't save the sound design.

Overall - 4.5
The game is slightly interesting but unnecessarily challenging, the challenge coming from the poor gameplay design. But overall I kind of did enjoy the time I spent on it and probably will go back and put a few more hours into it to get a better grasp on the story and write a full review on it after completion, if only because of the price I spent purchasing it. I bought the game on sale for about $39 at release and at this state is not worth the cost. But if you do happen to have $15 dollars sitting around and this game comes on sale I won't stop you from buying it.
