ÝDALIR

It is nestled high in the mountains
Built of antlers, surrounded by evergreen,
Ski-marks swirl in spirals between.

Skulls of beasts in branches hung,
Each a kill far clean and fine,
In blank eyeholes icicles shine.

The ice-crust breaks beneath my step
As I approach, the branches brush me,
And all his laughter seems to touch me.

Hail the flashing Lord of Ydalir,
Swift as wind upon the snow,
Mountain-high, he blesses us below.

❄ The Winter Aspect

He is not war.
He is precision.

Not storm-
But the moment before release.

The drawn breath.
The held stillness.
The arrow waiting inside the thought.

When the snow seals every careless sound,
When the world demands you move with care,
When your heart beats loud as a hunted drum-
That is where he lives.

In the clean edge of restraint.
In the discipline of survival.
In the oath kept without witness.

The trees lean closer in winter.
The land grows honest.
Nothing soft remains.

And in that clarity-
You remember you are not separate.

The frost bites.
The bow hums.
The earth watches.

And you are kin.

🌿 The Stones Remember

The stones remember where I tread,
Their roots are older than my name.
They drink the rain, they speak in moss,
And whisper back from whence I came.

The wind is not a breathless thing -
It sings, it sees, it knows me well.
It told the trees I would arrive,
And rang my steps like woven bell.

I do not walk through lifeless lands,
The world is watching, wide and wise.
Each stream and ash and feathered shade
Holds soul behind its quiet guise.

So ask no gods to come from high,
They’re here, beneath your foot and skin.
The earth is full. The sky is full.
