Have you ever had a really monotonous task you've had to do? Something that you know is going to be satisfying after you're done, but the process to do so has it's own kind of satisfaction? Mowing a big lawn, pressure washing, sanding a bunch of wood, etc etc? Maybe you opt to partake of whatever mind altering substance is your vice, which only makes that satisfaction even better and you just get lost in the task?

This is that exact feeling, in game mode. It's simple, it's satisfying. There's little tasks to do, little side quests. Simple hunger mechanic that gets easier to deal with as you progress. This certainly isn't GOTY, but if you're looking for something that you can just mindlessly lose yourself in while drinking a few beers and listening to a podcast or music, it's well worth the $12 bucks.

Absolutely fantastic release of an absolutely fantastic game. MGS has been one of my all time favorite game series, and MGS3 was my #2 after MGS1, so this release has sat in my wish-list since it was announced. So far, 6 hours in, and I haven't been disappointed yet. It's a faithful redesign of a classic game. Graphics are beautiful, even on a 3060. I'm running on balance graphics, since I was getting a lot of stuttering on High Quality, and it's smooth as butter. Frame rate locked at 60 FPS, which may turn off some folks, but if you're not an FPS snob it's perfect, and even on Balanced graphics it's one of the most beautiful games I've played. If you're like me and loved MGS3 20+ years ago, this is a must have. Now I'm just hoping and praying this does well enough for them to do a similar release for MGS1, and for god sake, release MGS4 on PC. Please Konami, if you want money thrown at you, release MGS4 on something other than a 20 year old console.

Edit: Gotten through most of the game at this point. Few side quests left, but still stand by my original review. Fantastic port, highly recommended. Older gamer here. 2 kids, full time job. Not a lot of time to play games anymore. But I loved the original God of War trilogy, and I absolutely loved the 2018 remake. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to play Ragnarok, I wasn't about to drop $500 on a PS5 to play it, so been anxiously waiting for it to come to PC. There's plenty of negative reviews of this so far, but seems like most of them are over the fact that you have to have a Sony account linked to your steam. If you're fine with taking the 5 minutes to create a throwaway e-mail to make an account, then I highly recommend this port. Excellent so far, only about 3 hours in, but no real issues. The single thing I've noticed is early in, Atreus's bow wasn't loading, so that was somewhat humorous seeing him drawing an arrow in thin air, but it resolved quickly. Otherwise gorgeous game, game play is basically identical to the 2018 GoW, and i'm excited to see where the story is going to go. Don't let the negative reviews stop you from playing if you're like me and have been waiting for this one.

Early Access Review
(Playing on Evrima): I want to like this game. Really, I do. The core mechanics have a ton of promise, but I can't overlook the bugs. Twice I've logged out and logged back in to a black screen. Could still see stam, food and water, could even access character tab, just otherwise a black screen. Expect a random disconnect every 3-4 hours at best, which can lead to you getting eaten by a carno as you're loading back in. In the 20 hours I've played, I spent 5 of them basically AFK trying to hide to get a stego full grown. When he was finally an adult, and could actually play the game, I glitched onto a tree walking through the forest and am still currently stuck on it 6 hours later. Had to log out to stop myself from dying of dehydration and put my hopes into messaging an admin on the discord. 20 hours of playing and I can't say I feel like I've even gotten to play the game yet. Going to shelf this one until some more of the bugs are worked out, and I can actually, you know, play the game I paid for.

Despite the constant changes, buffs and nerfs to killers and survivors alike, this game is still one of the funnest games I've ever played. Even when I get angry and rage at the game, I'm still back a few hours later for more. You'll get frustrated, probably more than any other game you'll play, but the frustration is almost always at yourself, rather than the killer. Definitely worth the 20 bucks to pick it up.
