The game is better now than it has ever been. There is more content than ever, more options than ever, and the skill ceiling is higher than ever (no more getting bored by the highest difficulty).

Just as before the update, this game has the most fluid, precise, and skill-dependent hack-n-slash combat of any game that I have ever played. It is truly in a class of its own.

Until the recent update, the game had been largely "solved": just mash your dodge button with slightly consistent timing, and spam-click your left mouse button. That's all you needed to do in order to succeed on even the highest difficulty levels. The latest update has largely removed this cheesy solution, and forces you to actually be smart with your positioning, movement, attack patterns, and even your gear loadout (which was largely irrelevant before) if you want to play on the higher difficulties. The removal of this easy-win solution is the reason for 90% of the recent negative reviews, which in my opinion, isn't a valid reason to complain (because you can always use a lower difficulty setting if the one you were playing on is too hard).

All in all, this was, and definitely still is, a fantastic game for those who love high-skill challenges. It also caters to others via lower difficulty settings. What it does NOT cater to is the player who expects the highest difficulty to be a breeze after playing for only 50 hours. Or the player who expects to read a build guide and suddenly be amazing at the game. Legend difficulty is not supposed to be do-able by everyone, and that's not even the highest difficulty anymore. When you play this game, you leave your ego and pride at the door.
