The bar is overwhelmingly low nowadays.

Visuals - Yes
Voice acting - Yes
Boss fights - Okey-ish

And yet another doom 2016 arena clone and It's not done well.
Boring levels with invisible walls everywhere.
Mechanically-wise very low variety of enemies - one shoots if there's line of site, one goes towards you and melee.
Mini-games are mindless with a card game being extremely tedious - for any reward you need to play the same game with the same strategy 20 times - take the highest number you have - win.

Again, yes, visuals are great.
But game design is an old x-box shooter in it's most basic form.

Ehhhhh... Idk about this one. This feels very different from little nightmares, which is not bad, but it doesn't scratch the same itch for me.

Visually grey, dark, a lot of times disorienting with big empty spaces.
A LOT of downtime from same action animations, opening doors, climbing etc.

Plot is a big nonsense, even without lore theories. It starts nowhere and ends nowhere which is unsatisfying. I think everything screaming birth allegory (oh no not scorn again)

Will see how the dlcs goes.

Thumbs down is closer than thumbs up for this one. I don't think it's bad but blend and forgettable. Especially contrasting LN 1-2

Unfortunately this one is easily a thumbs down.

But first the positives:
The art style is a highlight and is done very well ... and that's it?

Game progression is mostly linear and you'll spend a good chunk of time looking for one specific dialog or object to advance.
Puzzles are quite gamey - meaning it's not following narrative logic but rather require random solutions.
Example being - you need to take mouldy bread out of the bin in the police station for no reason, or in another case looking at the fire extinguisher detective says "Why do i need it? There's no fire" but later he takes fire extinguisher from a different place without finding the reason to do so.
Many times game are self aware about randomness of your actions and characters will acknowledge or joke about it, this doesn't make it better in my opinion. In worst cases like a "portal to university" the game doesn't know how to tie a solution to plot and just gives up on consistency of happenings.
Pixel hunting is also a thing but it's not even close to some of the worst genre cases so it's tolerable.

And now the main reason of downvote from me.
It's a game based on Lovecraft works and man do they dropped a ball here.
The atmosphere is not there - this game alternates between "funny" meta commentary and actual plot which is all over the place.
At the beginning we learn that the detective was being institutionalised from seeing the "barrel monster" and this is a common theme in all of Lovecraft works - being left traumatized after the encounter with unknown and ancient ♥♥♥♥ beyond the human comprehension.
But then all this psychology theme completely forgotten 'cause after the "Keziah" part which is like "barrel monster" x2 billion our main dudes are like completely fine and don't even need to mention it anymore - lets just continue our murder investigation after learning THAT. Oh boy :)
And lastly the museum is an awful idea, it basically spoils so many books and it does that in a dumbest way possible it's basically a 2-3 sentence synopsis of the books plot and main twists like an annoying friend who tells you all the spoilers and nothing else)

So unfortunately I say:
If you're looking for a new point and click adventure with puzzles and things to figure out - it's not here.
If you're a fan of Lovecraft works and want more lovecraftian horror themes - it's not here.
If you're just want a consistent and interesting story - it's not here.

P.S. Ending beyblade spin got me laughing my ass off.

I can't believe i missed this one.
It is the best H.P. Lovecraft work game adaptation existing on the market today.
Extremely faithful to the source material. Works really well as an adventure game with a quite unique survival twist to it.
Easily enjoyable for 2-3 playthroughs if you can avoid internet for hints.
And it's a solo project as I'm aware which is - just wow.
Easily my top pick for Lovecraft's mythos game from now on.

Can't wait for Dunwich Horror - dev's next project.

How is this so praised is probably tied to youtubers / streamers exposure.
This is a typical itch io pet project with zero original ideas, weak plot and gameplay design.
Only thing i can somewhat acknowledge is a characters visual design.

There's so much more original indie games I'd rather support. Shame that sometimes weak projects like this one steals the spotlight.

Очень грустно ставить палец вниз, проект имеет потенциал.
Визуал и атмофера на высоте, бродить по локациям и ездить на машинке под думерскую музыку интересно и приятно.

Но увы геймдизайн убивает все плюсы.
Я видел в отзывах недовольство боевой системой, системой голода и крафта, лично я спокойно смотрю на эти вещи, да, механики сыроваты, но они лишь переключают внимание на более сильные стороны игры - визуал, озвучка.
А вот когда начинается этап "задачек" переключиться на плюсы уже не получится, потому что придется искать вслепую, что игра хочет от тебя, чтобы пустить дальше.

Игра постоянно нарушает свою же логику и вводит игрока в заблуждение:
Cреди мусора из неинтерактивных предметов, которые разбросаны по локации, где-то лежит ничем не выделяющийся предмет X, который ты должен подобрать.
Для многих задач используется гаечный ключ - "нет ключа, но замок выглядит хлипким" так игра говорит нам, что в одной из комнат спрятан ключ от замка и подругому открыть его не получится.
Игнат, используй дрон, чтобы открыть себе дверь в комплекс изнутри - позже в игре будет подобная ситуация, когда надо попасть в дом, да, дроном можно влететь в окно и обыскать многоэтажку, но игра ждет что ты внезапно осознаешь, что в ней есть платформинг и надо прыгать по трубам.

Меня хватило до момента, где нужно отвлекать робота дроном, и опять непонятно, как это работает, пробуй, умри, пробуй снова. Открыв youtube 3й раз, я понял, что приятнее посмотреть прохождение.

Отдельно хочу отметить вкусовщину - роботы, которые появляются РЕЗКО (БУ) беззвучно и из неоткуда повсюду в этой игре, не удивительно, что такой противник уничтожил человечество.

Тем не менее, желаю автору успехов и дальнейшего развития. Денег за игру занес и не жалею, следующий проект будем посмотреть.
