At first i was sceptical about this game as a true EU IV enjoyer, since it differs quite a lot from it's predecessor, but it's starting to grow on me and i'm starting to enjoy it for what it is. Although i'd say there are quite a few issues, such as:

- Personal Unions are a bit too complicated and not as fun as in EU IV

- The UI stays a big negative for me even after they touched it up a little, i miss the old right click that showed all the diplomatic relations and all the info of a nation once u clicked on one (this used to be for your own nation as well, but for some reason it doesn't default to that view for your own nation)

- Playing as a vassal of a country (my case: Flanders) is very frustrating and kind of places you in an impossible situation, at least for me and with the knowledge i have now.

-I kind of miss making trade fleets and telling them where to go specifically

-I'm not the biggest fan of "automation" yet, since i like to micromanage and yes, i know you can turn it off and do these things yourself, but it BEING there demotivates me in a way to do it myself, if that makes sense...

Overal a good solid game on release and i can't wait for the extra content they'll add :)

Whoever makes a 3D game with this concept in mind will have the next breakthrough indie title, loved playing this as a kid.

I get why people don't like this game. In the end you have nothing to rly play for, for example: a rank, a lvl... This can kill the motivation for me, since i'm a very competitive player. I like the learning curve the game has. You have a lot of stuff that you'll have to master, which i enjoy. (Conclussion: I like the grind and the hard mechanics, but i don't like the lack of rank or reward at the end of a wipe. My opinion can still change, i only have 450 hours and have many things to improve on.)

What have we turned this game into? Anyone on X (Twitter) trying to convince you that this game is good and a true successor to CS:GO is coping insanely hard. Hearing about this new update made it very clear to me... CS2 will never be what CS:GO once was, and no, I'm not the classic "getting old" stereotype (I’m 22) or some casual. This game has been a big part of my life, but watching a perfect game get replaced by something the likes of this is just nothing short of depressing. Valve has an endless supply of money. People need to stop acting like they are the godfather of all videogames and that they are overall always right, because what they’ve done to this game is no different from your dad going for some milk and never returning.

The CS2 developers are clueless about their own game and just throw random ♥♥♥♥ onto the game every now and then. I DO NOT want realistic magazine mechanics in the game. This is not an interesting addition, it’s something no one has ever thought about or wanted inside the game, since it's not in CS's DNA. It's not tactical, it's tedious and annoying. Realism is NOT what this game ever needed. It may have started like that for CS 1.6, but it's not at all what players love about it today, which brings me to the graphics. The graphics in this game make me nuts. I cannot be the only person that is extremely put off by the new art style of this game. Everything is way too bright, the new AK iron sight makes me vomit, the game looks cartoony and smokes look like trash. The CS:GO graphics had the perfect charm and simplicity to them (not outdated, similar to how people enjoy Old School RuneScape’s graphics, at least to me) and actually let you play on 4:3, while in CS2 this results in a blurry and washed-up mess of a game.

The sub-tick system is one of the worst decisions I have seen happen in all of gaming, and yes, I am terminally online and I am up to date with all the generational flops and news there is. It is that bad, and it hurts to say that this game has actually outdone all of them. Sub-tick still makes you die behind walls and makes you teleport and phase when running against your teammates. The physics are super inconsistent. I watched OhnePixel the other day play with Jynxzi and someone was trying to teach him how to runboost. Guess what? That stuff is completely off the table now since this game's mechanics are completely messed up. Tick-rate is one of, if not the most important aspects of a competitive video game and CS2 has completely thrown it out the window. They even go so far as to implement actual fake hallucination settings such as "damage prediction"... I used to enjoy surfing and bhopping on community servers in CS:GO, and guess what? Also practically impossible in CS2. Yes, there are surf servers and bhop servers, but the plug-ins and voodoo techniques they have to pull off to make it feel even remotely close to CS:S/CS:GO surfing/bhopping is insane, and it still feels like ♥♥♥♥. The sub-tick system has done nothing other than make the gameplay absolutely terrible.

I know there is also the cheater problem, but I know most of this is salty casuals just like the ones in my Steam comments, although real blatant ones do exist and are not rare to come by. I just don't have any more energy to give to this review. Will I try to play CS2 again? Yes, of course. I will never stop coming back, but I will probably never stay again like I used to. It doesn't feel competitive and consistent anymore like it used to... It's turning into a shell of its former self, being protected by casual players who open lots of cases and only have little knowledge and little care about game mechanics and tell us that we are idiots because "everything is fine." It happens every day… but yeah, that’s it.
