The game seems to have undisclosed, semi-always-online DRM requirements. As other reviews around this time have pointed out, on 29.04.2026 the game became unplayable for a time, and would crash on the first splash load screen, with no (useful) crash report of any kind. No amount of file verification, mod finangling or even a fresh install helped. What did help, however, was turning Steam to Offline mode; the game booted, and the main menu helpfully told me to go online to access more content. This makes me believe that the loading screen has hidden online content verification.

Fix your damn DRM, properly disclose it, and give us useful error reports, Creative Assembly - or better yet, don't have online DRM in a primarily-singleplayer game in the first place.
