Phenomenal mech power fantasy game.
Tons of varied builds and weapons. Mow down hordes of nightmare fuel creatures, and enjoy a somewhat cheesy but enjoyable enough storyline. Until you get god-builds you have to manage your energy, heating, and ammo well, so it's not completely braindead gameplay either. You can grind raids to get all the upgrades or best gear, but it's not necessary to beat the missions and after just a few you'll drop the difficulty down a lot. There's also lower and higher difficulties if you want them anyway.

I've played through the game twice now, 2nd time through to also complete the DLC. Great fun, well worth the cheap price, excited to hopefully get more DLC and eventually finish the story.

The DLC adds onto an already phenomenal base game and is easily worth the low price point.
There isn't too much more to the mech parts beyond upgrades, but the torsos have little additions that are nice, such as coax guns or a protection system. The weapons though were very enjoyable, from the T3 hyper-velocity gun to the laser cannon, they were all fun to play with. Napalm is a game-changer for the end-game, and I found myself making thorough use of the napalm shoulder weapons. Every T3 felt like a straight upgrade to the T2 weapons at the very least, and I found myself carrying my build through the DLC without running any raids and I still had a great build.

The missions are varied and I liked each of them. I only had one issue, where it took a bit of waiting for the game to continue but it may have just been because I was killing the objective enemies too quickly. The story-line continues, but it does end off similarly to the base game so I expect more DLCs will come to continue the story eventually.

I liked all the maps. Weaving through the cramped cities with hordes around was a new level to manage with some of the spawner enemy types added. Some of the maps were really big, but with the T3 mech parts it was easy to get up to a high booster speed with a decent recharge rate to make navigating easy.

I loved all the new enemy types. The shields were maybe a bit annoying but strafing and holding down triggers, or layering the area in napalm worked well enough. My only gripe was the final boss, where one of its aoe attacks seemed nigh-impossible to dodge, leading to what felt like a bit of a DPS race. Granted it wasn't that bad, and every other part of the boss was fun.

Phenomenal remake. Easily up there alongside RE2R.

I tried it, and I wanted to like it, but I can't.

The game is quite clunky to control, and there's a strong lack of control over your players in general.
While on offense the AI defenders will swarm the ball carrier, cover open passers, and fill the box with defenders so you have to dribble/pass through, while your team will stand around. In many cases my teammates would even run backward, leaving me with nobody to pass the ball to in the midfield, let alone on the opposing half. Why is my entire team playing so deep while set to offensive? Meanwhile on defense you're forced to constantly swap players because your ai defenders don't cover players. Often even with 4 defenders opponents walk into the box uncontested while ai defenders hang around on the wings and watch. It's frustrating, especially on career because your players start really slow. The ball will bounce off the keeper and two defenders will stand and stare at it while you race to the ball alone with whoever you happen to be given control of.

AI aside the controls are awkward and clunky, especially on players with poor stats who feel like they can barely aim passes. Through passes especially will be launched at max power as far down the field as possible even on just a button tap, while a full power lob will go half a foot forward.

Game could be fun on multiplayer, and with just some minor improvements it could be better as a whole but as of now I can't recommend it as I just couldn't enjoy it even as arcade football.

Graphics & Design
The game, as expected, looks and sounds amazing. Some of the enemy designs are amazing, but the "tentacle" quirk of the basic enemies, although seeming interesting at first, quickly becomes frustrating and unfun.

Plot (Minor Spoilers)
I was really caught by the plot at first. I wanted to see more, and the characters (Shoutouts to Elias) were engaging. Unfortunately the longer you play the more the game just becomes a nearly exact clone of Dead Space/Resident Evil plotlines. In combination with my growing frustration with the gameplay it became more difficult to finish the game the longer I played. The main antagonists don't even do anything, either. One sits around and does nothing all game except show up in recordings. The other sort of follows you around, but the encounters with him last all of ten seconds and he gets no interesting characterization until the final fight. The game isn't long, either. It's only ~10 hours, played slowly, and it suffers from a constant use of 'oh no, I've fallen down and been separated from my partner! I guess we'll have to meet up later!'. I'm not exaggerating when I say this happens at least, I think, four times. Only ten hours is unacceptable for an $80-$90 game with zero replayability.|

Gameplay (Spoilers)
And now we get to, unfortunately, the worst part of the game. So much jank. I can't count the number of times I died due to a janky dodge/attack, or.. A reason I wasn't even sure. The basic one-on-one combat is... Okay. The gameplay loop comes down to: dodge left, dodge right, repeat until enemy stops attacking and you can counter. Every.Single.Enemy. Is fought like that. Except one singular enemy you must shoot or throw.
You can shoot enemies to stun them but guns do pathetic damage and it's not really worth it when you can just beat them up. There's low attacks, but you have to block (and thus take damage) to use them, so they're pointless. You can break it up a bit with the GRP, but without environmental hazards for the instakill it isn't that much different and it leaves you open to other enemies hitting you. Except sometimes the enemies bug out and hit you as if you're fighting alone, and sometimes your dodge will bug out and either A: You dodge and then get hit by.. nothing?, or B: You just don't dodge and get hit.
The game adds tentacles to regular enemies. You have to shoot the tentacles for an instakill or the enemy will mutate and become stronger. At first this seems interesting, but toward the end of the game you get ~3 seconds to shoot it or they mutate, and they're always in the same spot. Not fun in group combat and it leaves no room to try and beat the mutation by killing the enemy before they mutate. You shoot the tentacles or he basically gains a second healthbar. It's justy annoying.
Finally, the bosses. Awful. There's only 2 (or...6, sort of.) The first boss you encounter isn't until chapter 6 or 7 of 8. The "two-head". Worst boss in any game I've ever played, and after the first one shows up the game throws another 3 of them at you in the next hour. You cannot melee the boss, and you cannot use the GRP on it (Except in *one* section where there are explosives you can throw at it, but it barely does any damage). So you dodge one attack, shoot it, dodge attack, shoot it, and repeat until it goes down and you can beat one of the heads, and then kill it the 2nd time. It's insanely boring, and if you mess up even once the boss will oneshot you even at full health. The other is Ferris... His first fight is a 30-second fight where you dodge 4-6 attacks, then melee and shoot him. GRP doesn't work. At least he doesn't oneshot you. His second fight (The final fight) is the same thing, but he takes more damage. Then he mutates into a Resident Evil boss and summons little exploding enemies. This was probably the most interesting fight in the game as you can use all of the tools the game gives you and mutant-Ferris does slightly more than just swing at you.
I almost forgot, the game also has guaranteed damage. One enemy jumps out and grabs you, pulling you in and making you mash to escape. Most of the time you can shoot it to avoid this, but at one point you climb a ladder and get grabbed as soon as you get to the top. Ridiculous. The other is these little headcrab enemies that jump at you. The game [bold]loves[/bold] to hide these in chests and lootable cabinets. The first time it gets you, you laugh and move on. By the 19th time it's just annoying and you start preswinging everything to avoid having to mash and take damage.

Almost forgot, but horror
...Well, there isn't much. The game doesn't even try to build tension most of the time. It does it maybe twice, for a little bit. Aside from that it just throws random jumpscares at you, so although the enemy designs start off kind of creepy the game doesn't try to make you fear them. So you spend the game beating the hell out of everything and not being scared.

All in all I cannot recommend this game for full-price. Get it on sale or watch someone else play it. The gameplay is too simple and janky to be fully enjoyable, the plot gets worse the longer you play, and the graphics and atmosphere can't redeem the gameplay.

Very cute game. Incredibly relaxing and quite emjoyable to decorate as you unpack for someone over and over. Would love DLCs to unpack more people's lives. Only two problems I found with the game.

1:Very short for the price. Only got ~4 hours out of it.
2: Some items are restricted to certain rooms, and occasionally and item comes out of a box in the wrong room. Not a huge deal, but can be frustrating when you're trying to find out which of only 3 specific spots the game wants a certain item to be in.

Early Access Review
Called the ghost of Betty White an old hag. She proceeded to walk down the stairs, through me, shut the power off and choke my girlfriend to death in front of me.

I left, grabbed a flashlight, went back in to grab the camera with photos on it... And then packed up and drove away safe and sound.

10/10 would watch Betty White murder again.

Survivor's Guide to Darkwood
So you've found your way here, deep in the woods. Well, good luck escaping. All roads have been consumed by the woods. Perhaps not everyone wants you dead, but don't get me wrong. Most do. They know you're different. But maybe, just maybe, if you listen carefully... You can survive. Be patient, focus, and respect the woods.

This hideout of yours will hardly protect you. You won't be able to survive like the rest of us, so don't waste the daylight. Scavenge the woods, find supplies. Maybe you can craft something to protect yourself. You're going to need it. You can waste your time looking for a way out, but all roads lead deeper into the woods.

Maybe, if you're lucky, you can hide from them during the night. You can sit like a coward in a corner and listen to every scratch, scrape and footstep around you, but don't expect to be safe. They will get inside. They will come for you.

Darkwood is, simply put, my favourite horror game now. There aren't many jumpscares, but sitting alone in the dark, this game will get you with its atmosphere. The objective of the game is to escape the woods, but you've lost an important item to do so. You have to find it, and get out. But the woods will not make it easy. During the daytime you can scavenge for supplies to craft weapons, traps, barricades and various other items. As well, you can meet with NPCs and try to advance through the story, but believe me the the light won't save you from the monsters.
Then, the night comes. Your hideout will help protect you, so you must remain there through the night. You can barricade the building and lay traps, and you should make sure to keep your generated fueled. Although it is possible to hide from the enemies at night, it's not easy. You can fight, you can hide, or you can play cat and mouse. Hiding only gets more difficult as the game progresses, though.

Atmosphere: This game has an amazing atmosphere. The music is perfect, and if the monsters don't get to you, the sounds of the forest and the night will. You can hear as things wander your hideout, and it's terrifying. This game doesn't have many jumpscares, and the worst is probably every time you step on a bear trap you laid five minutes ago.
Combat: The combat is simple, straightforward, and maybe a little clunky, but I will warn you it is not easy. You have to be patient, and you have to time your attacks, or you will die. It can be mastered, and even that godawful enemy that kills you every time can be conqeuered. There are plenty of different weapons to craft and find, and the melee weapons all have various strengths and swing speeds. As well, all melee weapons have durability, but they can be repaired. If you master the controls, the game becomes much easier.

Story: Now that I've finished the story, I'm updating the review. After beating it I absolutely fell in love with the story. It's pretty deep, and the more you look the more you can learn about it. There's still new things I'm trying to find out. Plus, the story has multiple endings to find. Essentially, everyone in the forest has given up on finding an exit, but you have a key that you believe will lead you out. You're found unconscious and are rescued by someone who steals your key, so you must search the forest to get it back. As you explore the forest, you will learn more about it's inhabitants and the events that have gone on within the forest, and every decision you make can change the world and people around you in ways you might not expect, so be careful when making decisions.

The game is not easy, but it's fun, and it's scary. Some tips to start.
1. Scavenge, scavenge, scavenge. Find all the supplies you can before moving to the next area. Item containers don't refill themselves, so there is an almost finite amount of supplies to collect (The exception is enemies, and randomly spawning corpses that will have randomized loot on them).
2. Don't be afraid to make multiple trips. Take only the essentials when you go out during the day, and return often to stash your loot so you can head back out and make the most of the day time.
3. Be patient. In this game, rushing will only ever get you killed. Take your time, strategize, and never let your guard down.
4. Flares are a life-saver. If your lamps ever go out, or you're fighting in a dark area, you can drop a flare. I always keep several on me during the night in case of emergencies. Similarily, always bring a torch with you. They have many uses.
5. The monsters will come, and they will find you sooner or later, so prepare. Don't waste supplies barricading every door and window in the hideout, you'll just use up a lot of supplies when they're broken. Use barricades to warn you when you're found. Deploy traps, prepare your weapons, and then remove the barricade yourself to save precious supplies and fight for your life. You can play cat and mouse with monsters, but have a route and a plan for that. Running about randomly will get you killed.
6. Master the combat. Be patient with your strikes. You can counter most enemies attacks, or dodge and give yourself a window to attack. It's hard, and it can be incredibly frustrating sometimes, but it can be done.
7. Conserve your ammo, but don't be afraid to use your guns. They can get you out of a bad situation.

Finally, respect the woods. Good luck, meat.
