I had just beat "The Evil Within 2" less than 20 minutes ago, and wanted to write a review while the game is fresh on my mind. It took me 18 hours to finish the game. And every single one of those hours were worth it. Having played the first one, while I enjoyed it, I was expecting this game to become "horror" stale after the first few hours of gameplay like the first game and rely on a good story to keep me interested. The open world environment mixed with claustrophobic areas, creates a steller environment with the new Stem Engine(clever name). The level design was superb, and the setting was a great idea. The flashbacks to Beacon were a great addition to the game, and the story was incredible. Things really become full circle at the end . I do believe you should play the first Evil Within, because it is a huge part of the games story, and I just feel that you can't enjoy this game to the fullest without having played the first. The journals in the first game will really help you understand the full story in this one. The character development was outstanding. They used the first game's story to the fullest in this game. Completing side missions really rewards you with more story, and it makes you feel like you received way more than what you paid for the game. I'll go into pros and cons now.

Pros -
Story
Combat
Weapon choices
Setting
Character development(maybe the best in any 2017 game, top 3 for sure in my all time)
Plot twists blew my mind
Stem Engine is amazing! Graphics are stunning!
The optimization was actually incredible compared to the first one, I'm pretty positive the frame rate is locked at 100, but thats plenty. I NEVER, and I mean NEVER, dropped frames. I stayed above 90 for the entire game, cutscene or not. If you played the first one, you would know how badly ported it was. This game feels like it was made to be played on PC. [ I still used a controller though.]

Cons -
If you are crawling and pick up a item, it will sometimes teleport you to either the other side of the room or back outside the room. Happened maybe 5 times in the entire playthrough.

I can almost positively tell what the DLC will be about. There are two instances in the late game that, like most games, can basically give you the idea of what the DLC will be about. And let's just hope I'm right because I'll throw more money at Bethesda and Tango for DLC any day.

TL;DR - Buy it, I loved it. Great optimization, but play the first Evil Within before this one. It helps with the full experience. I would say its a 9/10, but I loved the entire last few chapters it makes up for the extra point. 10/10.

welp..... where do I start?

8 hours. 8...whole....nazi-killing...hours...

It took me 8 hours to complete the game(mind you, I just wanted to finish the game as fast as I could, I often found myself exploring because I knew there are alternate routes in many of the missions, but I never went on a collectable hunt. So I beat it prety fast.), and I can honestly say this game is great. It was 8 hours of nazi-killing action with a pretty respectable ending. I'll go over some pros and cons

Pros - combat, story, comedy(sometimes), and intense encounters(such as the first train scene). Weapon choice, level design(multiple routes), choices(also a con).

con- The choices in the game were a cool addition. Although in reality they didn't mean anything. I wouldve prefered the if they added on extra mission to finish your business with a certain someone who I will not name for spoiler references, instead on focusing on minor differences and cutscenes. There is one glitch I faced in the game that apparently has been around since the start. On the mission where you steal the train to grab the torpedos and hide in it , there is a vent on the second floor that once you go in.... you literally cannot get out. I assume since its been in since release, either bethesda gave up on ever fixing it, or its just something they don't deem game-breaking(which it isn't).

I bought this game on sale bc I thought that Old Blood was a sequel and thought I should play this one before it. I was wrong, and now I'm sad, but I don't regret it. I hear they are making a new one anyways. Also I did play the original wolfenstein and I think the bonus throwback mission was super neat. All in all, I recommend buying this game. I did not buy it off of steam, I used a third party site since it was only 3 bucks on most of them since its on sale on steam. I recommend you do the same. 10/10

Early Access Review
While this game has many bugs(many...more than any other early access game I've ever played), it is by far one of the most fun games I have ever played.
