Modern death is devoid of drama. There is no noble causes anymore, thus there is no glorious death. How can one aim for a glorious death with no bow, no arrow, and most importantly, no bullseye? Traditional notions of honour and valour seem so far away, like a distant ship sailing towards the horizon. The modern world offers little opportunity for heroism or martyrdom, leaving many to fade into obscurity without ever having the chance to leave a meaningful mark on the world.
