I came in confused on what's going on in the story, finished the game even more confused. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad point depending on who you are, the world and environment is pretty interesting but don't expect for things to wrap up nicely and your internal questions to be answered unless you look into the hidden and background lore, I couldn't find myself super invested into the story as the game progressed. Overall the gameplay is fun and stunning to look at, environmental design is top notch, RTX implementation is pretty good if you wanna see what its capable of, and the sound design especially with throw ability is great but there's nothing super groundbreaking going on here.

The game has gotten a lot better in the year its been out, and with patch 13, it has added more build variety to the characters and allows for lots of different playstyles as well as making most weapons more viable giving you a lot of choice. They've added more core features to the game however the fact that it nearly took an entire year before you could say the game is "out" without attaching an early access tag to the game is just sad, there's still some stuff to be added or adjusted but at least a lot of glaring issues have slowly been dealt with. The gameplay loop has always been great, as well as the music, environment and atmosphere but at least you can say the game is worth the purchase now

Early Access Review
Survival game done right where the survival mechanics don't feel like a chore and nag you constantly. Very chill to just jump in and continue your base build or farm for some resources.

What can I really say about this game, I wish there was a mixed button because I personally don't feel like it's as good as some people are making it out to be. I enjoyed it but it has some obvious flaws.

Let's get this straight, this game has a some damn good atmosphere and tense moments, with it becoming even better on Ranger difficulty with minimal to no HUD throughout the game, the story has good depth to it and some memorable moments, with some slow slogs and jarring interruptions. The graphics are really good, such as the rainfall and blood on your gas mask, only falling behind in the animation and sound department where this is showing more of its age. The locations are detailed and great to go walk through, it felt more like an actual post apocalyptic world, with dark areas becoming tense to walk through. Playing on Ranger difficulty is recommended as ammo and supplies will become more sparse, which will make the game feel more immersive and the tense moments will be heightened. Try survival mode for an even harder experience.

The game falls behind in the way combat is approached. There is way too many scenarios where stealth seems to be more or less forced on you, granted you can just rambo everything but the morale system will quickly stop you in your tracks if you want to reach the good ending. There is so much waiting on guards to move out of the way, with a "red light green light" approach to stealth, and if you do inevitably fail the quiet approach and have to go loud, don't worry because the next room over separated by the door will be deaf to the gunfire and explosions that just happened so you can retry the stealth in the next area. Also back on the morale system, if you shoot back at enemies that are literally shooting at you, this can also affect your morale and be negative, it can be quite difficult reaching the good ending tbh, I consider the "bad ending" a good enough conclusion to the story.

This game doesn't have a skill curve, its a line that goes straight up to the next galaxy. No frills, no fluff, just a test of your aim and situational awareness

A lot of people consider this game to be Anime Souls, which is only really half a truth. The game takes homage from Dark Souls in a way it does its combat and progression both in the game world and your character but that's where the comparison can end, it plays more like a JRPG with an emphasis on the story which you can find out through the cut scenes, dialogue and memory sequences. The game is ""easier"" than a DS game as its made to be more accessible to the Code Vein/God Eater universe, with a companion who can follow you to provide support through combat or revives during battles. There is a wide variety of magic and combat skills you can use throughout the game as well as different weapon and armour combinations to make plenty of different builds with.

If you go into this game expecting a brutal Dark Souls clone, you might be put off. If you go into it wanting a story based JRPG game with soulslike combat, you will like it. The game features some anime tropes, which can put some people off but its not enough to write the whole game off. The story in itself is interesting and there is some more hidden lore to find out about the world.

Summary:
A chaotic and fast paced isometric shooter hack-n-slash that plays like a mix of Hotline Miami and Hades topped off with a kickass soundtrack and amazing art style. Set in a dystopian cyperpunk world, there are lots of interesting world elements in the game however the story is quite generic and falls flat, combined with a level design that is very similar all the way throughout. The game is painfully short and has some difficult portions however it is very easy to restart when you die as well as new game+ being introduced.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who is after a quick paced hack-n-slash shooter that has a variety of weapons and skills, and doesn't mind some challenge.

Pros:
- Pleasing art style and character art
- Banging soundtrack
- Fun and fast paced combat
- Interesting cyberpunk world elements
- Nice variety of weapons, skills and bosses

Cons:
- Generic story that falls a bit flat
- Weapon balance issues, some of them are simply used as fodder for the weapon grinder
- Sometimes gets too chaotic leading to dieing to something you weren't aware of or losing where you're aiming
- Levels tend to feel the samey with the factory style backdrop
- Too short of a game, I completed it in 4½ hours on Normal (NG+ is available though)
