These commands can also be used/edited in your config file which can be found here :

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\players\config_mp.cfg

If you are editing these in your config then just type them as is, if you are using them in the console then type the character \ first or you will just see them come up on screen as text.

cg_drawfps on

Enables the FPS counter, you'll see it in the top right corner of the screen. Use the same command and off to disable.

cg_drawfpsonly 1

Shows your in game FPS

com_maxfps X

Range = 1-1000

It can improve lag to set your max fps. If you are using VSync then set your maxfps to 60. Replace 'X' with a the number. Use '0' zero to unlock maxfps.

r_flameFX_fps 30

15 is default, LOW FIRE FPS FIX

cg_fov 80

FOV = Field of View, 65 is the default, 80 is a good value

drawlagometer 1

Shows the LAG-O-METER on your screen to see if you have a smooth connection or you are having connection problems, a smooth graph is good, unsmooth is not.

r_multiGpu

This should only be enabled if you have multiple graphics cards or a graphics card with multiple GPUs. If you don't have multiple GPUs, don't know what this means, or are having issues with your MultiGPU solution, please set this to "0".

r_multithreaded_device

This setting should be enabled for EVERYBODY as the minimum requirements for Black Ops clearly states that you need a multithreaded (multicore) CPU to run the game. However, some people have noticed that by setting this to "0" some of the skipping lag is relieved. Test this out only as a last resort.

r_vsync

VSync prevents screen tearing. If you don't know what that is, just set it to "0" because you probably don't care anyway. Otherwise, VSync usually doesn't have any negative performance issues with today's graphics cards. However, there may be a few performance issues linked to VSync with the current release of Black Ops. Try setting this to "0" for compatibility.

r_blur_allowed

This setting enables Blur shader effects. If you have a strong shader card, this setting may be negligible. Otherwise, just go ahead and set this to "0".

r_distortion

This setting enables Distortion shader effects. If you have a strong shader card, this setting may be negligible. Otherwise, just go ahead and set this to "0".

r_dof_enable

This setting enables Depth of Field shader effects. If you have a strong shader card, this setting may be negligible. Otherwise, just go ahead and set this to "0".

r_glow_allowed

This setting enables Glow (HDR?) shader effects. Normally, this should have a negligible performance impact. HOWEVER, this setting seems to be buggy! Performance improved DRAMATICALLY when I set this option to "0".

rate

Default = 25000

Rate is the rate at which the client sends packets to the server. If you set this too low, below 10000 or so, you run the risk of sending insufficient data to the server and lagging out. Set this too high, above 50000 or so, and you run the risk of flooding your connection to the server. This setting should be adjusted according to your connection speed and may take some fine tuning.

cl_maxpackets

Default = 100

This setting controls how many packets the client will hold to ensure packet transmission. If you set this setting to low, below 20 or so, then you run the risk of being disconnected prematurely.

If you set this setting too high, above 150 or so, then you run the risk of continually resending redundant data and lowering your ping (or worse, getting choked). This setting is very hard to tune because it depends on so many factors beyond your own connection.

Most people have found setting this to 100 is a good compromise for most servers.

Improve net play by setting this to 100 or half of your max

Updates to Call of Duty: Black Ops have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

A review I read for this game said something like : If you like sniper tactics, crawling through the jungle to track your target then waiting for the right moment to take that single, long shot for the kill... don't bother with this game.

It sucks boys! I had to give up today after making it to the 5th or so level. It was just too much!

Pro's : Nice maps, good foliage which leads to good camo. Cool bullet cam on head shots.

Con's : Not once did I take a shot longer than 250m and I had to intentionally find that! All shots are within 100-150m!!??? WTF?? If you shoot a guy in the head it goes unnoticed... even to the bloke he was having a conversation with! Shoot him anywhere else and the alarms go off! AND when you shoot a guy in the head you get the bullet cam which means you get a bullet-eye view of the doods surrounding your target that you may have missed otherwise! So as long as they are all headshots you can just go round and ping all the bad guys. Enemies can and do shoot you even though they can't see you and you can't shoot them. You are forced to do tactically rediculous moves eg. abseil down a cliff in front of a dozen enemy while they are shooting at you. If you take the time to snipe them before climbing down (into almost hand to hand combat) your spotter/side kick, yells at you to hurry up! WTF?? All too often you are sneaking around inside their base in order to get to a point on the map.... WTF?? I am wearing a gillie suit and carrying a rifle with a 10x scope on it, why the ♥♥♥♥ am I walking through their base, I should be 1km away shooting them and then walking away through the jungle!! The AI is insanely FANTASTIC at spotting you regardless of your camo gillie suit and you only fired one round, they just spin on their heels and start putting VERY effective fire on you!

Yes, it has a funny name, yes it is currently only on consoles (PS3 & X360) but damn! This game is HOT!

Sean and I got hold of RDR (PS3) 2 days ago and have played a little of the single player and had a few decent sessions in multiplayer. Both rock incredibly!!

The game uses the GTA4 engine and has a very familiar look about it even to the point of having an identical 'radar' bottom left of screen. The way the story unfolds, the missions and the freedom to do whatever you want, are carbon copy of GTA4. But don't read that like its a bad thing. Everything we loved about GTA4 is there and some! The world is spectacular to say the least. When you stand on the mountain ranges and look out over the plains, you get views that actually make you stop to take them in, I found myself wishing I had a camera! Up closer, in towns and even inside the buildings, the graphics are extra sweet. Playing on my 42 inch in HD I feel like I am there.

If you love westerns or you always just wanted to wear chaps, this game is going to knock your socks off! As usual your actions translate into the way you are treated by the NPC's, namely the law, retailers (discount for characters with high honor rating), employers, publicans, civillians and yes, even hookers.. Here's an example. I rode back into the town I am living in called Armadillo (is that how you spell it?) and could hear some screaming as I hitched my hoss to ye olde hitchin rail (which saves one horse for you - very good if you 'scored' a good one) so I went to the front of the tavern where a guy was beating up a hooker and she was screaming. I stood there wondering if I should get involved when he pulls out a knife and draws back as if to stab her in the guts! I whip out my pistole and cap his ass! Honor bonus, Fame bonus, dead ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. LOVE IT!! After that, discount in the general store.

Multiplayer - the all important bit. You can form Posses (yes that is how you spell it, said "Possies") and as a posse you ride around in a pack and do various missions or game types. Bit like GTA4 where you all go to a "Free Roam" map and then pick differnet game types from there but in this one the free roam allows anyone to join and you can still shoot it out with the law, bandits, civillians, other players etc. Last night was awesome, Sean and I were fighting some AI bandits in their hideout when another player comes along and guns down Sean! He respawns and we were talking about it saying "WTF just happened? Why would he do that?". Then we hear a couple of other blokes, Aussies, saying he had just done the same to them and they were hunting him down (voice comms works on a proximity basis, except if in a posse when you can talk regardless of range) so Sean and I said hell yeah and joined their posse to hunt this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ down. We eventually caught up with him and after slaughtering him a dozen times or so he left the server! Wicked fun! Then we spent the rest of the night riding with these guys and they showed us around to some crazy ♥♥♥♥ like hunting Cougars and Bears in the mountains with nothing more than throwing knives and dynamite!!!

♥♥♥♥, I could go on and on about the stuff we have seen and done in the few short sessions. Needless to say, I think this is going to be the next big thing for TsT gaming nights and likely for online mayhem too. This is definately a 99% game and will go right off!
