Ok, this whole guide is about applied paints.

Paint is the best example of a item you can apply to an item.
Basic Information:
Paint is an applyable item that can be applied to almost every cosmetics.
When you apply paint to a cosmetic, it changes the color.
The paint applied to the cosmetic will make the cosmetic more valuable.
Applying paint is not recommended for people who wants to profit because it gets rid of the paint.
Example:
Hustler's Hallmark (1.33) + Black Paint = Black Hustler's Hallmark ( Black Paint Price + Hustler's Hallmark Price< X >1.33)
Note: The value of a painted will NEVER be above the price of the paint and the hat combined.
Long story Short, Applying paint makes you lose value.

Bible.tf values a painted hat in this formula:
50% Of the Price of the Paint Applied + Cosmetic's Price
A lot of sellers sell at this price.
But this is never worth it.
This is my recommended way of calculating Painted Cosmetics
I have sevaral formulas that determines the price of the hat.
First of all, if the hat is valuable, more of the value will stay.

These formulas is only my opinion.
Formula 1:
This formula only applies if the applied paint is fairly cheap pain (Cheaper then 8 ref)
and if the cosmetic is between 1-2 times cheaper then the paint.

Applied Paint ORIGINAL Price = Painted Cosmetic Value

Formula 2:
This formula is if the price of the paint is close to the price of the cosmetic
The price of the paint and the cosmetic can vary to any price.


75% Price of the Unpainted Version of the Cosmetic + 50% Price of the Paint = The Value of the Painted Cosmetic

Formula 3:
This formula works if the paint applied to the cosmetic is MUCH MORE VALUABLE then the cosmetic.
Example: Black Paint with a craft hat

30-50% Value of the Paint = Value of Painted Cosmetic

Final Formula:
This formula is one of the most general formula.
This works for paints that are cheaper then the cosmetic itself.

100% Price of Cosmetic + 10% - 35% Value of Paint
The varying value of paint depends on how the paint impacts the cosmetic.
If the cosmetic already changes color based on its team, team color changing paints will not be as valuable.
If a black hat has white paint, it will normally have a value with the 25% to 35% value of the paint.
If black paint is applied to a black hat, this will not add as much as value.

Ways you sometimes manage to save some scrap metal or pay less for a item.

Tell your fellow trader that you had a better offer (not that much better) and try pushing the value of their offer a little bit up.

When somebody adds you and offers what you asked for, try asking to either pay like one scrap more or offer counteroffers.

Always say "slight item overpay" in your trades. It looks better then just the plain old "item overpay", but you can lure them in.

Always look for pure. Whether you want something else or not, pure is always king. For example, maybe you want to swap out a fast learner (2.33) for a blizzard breather (also 2.33). Well, guess what buddy, they are going to lay the "item overpay" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bomb on you. So just sell it for bp.tf price and then use the previous method of going on backpack.tf and looking for cheap sellers. Boom, now you have what the other guy wants instead of what it was last time, trying to trade him so you can get what you want. Heck yeah! Maybe you can even pay a scrap less for it!

Always put positive notes on your trades. If your item has a 5 man history, say it has short history. Also, if it has the following levels like 0,1,21,42,69,99 or 100, always mention that. These will all make you look like a douche bag who just wants to get the most out of his worthless items. But wait! Say that your being nice and sell it for bp.tf price. This lets them slip and forget that most people who sucessfully sell their non-pure items quicksell and boom! You profit!

Golden Rule of Trading: Never ever sell something for an amount of value less thenyou paid for. I recommend to go on scrap.tf and buy some noncraft (more then 1.33) cosmetics then you don't usually see. Then do use the method I just told you by putting every positive notes about your cosmetic and looking genuine by selling it for bible.tf price.
