Having difficulty creating terrain with your displacements?
Do you find that the displacement manipulation tools are just too un-intuitive for your taste?

Then don't worry about that shit.

Pull out the torus tool, ramp up the settings and intersect your brushes. Then hit 'carve'; for a truly elegant solution in creating terrain or other non-euclidean geometry.

Invite more people tbh.
