This server (technically the Chapel @ HL2DM) was my alternative to not owning Half-Life 2 (and thus, not being able to play Garry's Mod at the time back when it was still a Source mod for free). Pleasant times with a whole lot of people on this server.

Went by xenophunk when I played. Was mainly annoying and marvelling at the fact I could do building stuff in a game that was largely built for deathmatching. Holds a good place in my heart.

i was badass riddance on the old tfc server. as the name implies, i was 13. yaypit was some of the most fun i ever had playing video games and it's been difficult trying to recapture that same spirit of goofy fun on experimental maps with other games. there really will not be another yaypit.

This server (HL2DM) was the height of my childhood and the root of my drive to understand how things work and how I can modify them to make them work for me. In other words, this server sparked my passion for coding and game development which to this day still exists. I have a strong memory of idolizing shyotl and relentlessly asking him how 2 code haha. My username at one point was even "Shoytg" which was indeed a rip-off of Shyotl. I was an annoying little ♥♥♥♥ who got on everyone's nerve more often than not and often paid the price, but regardless this server holds a special place in my heart and it's crazy to think how much of an impact this server and community really had on my growth. I wouldn't change a thing.

Anyway that's enough nostalgia for today.

I barely understood how to communicate with people online when I first started playing online games, HL2DM was one of my first experiences playing an online game and really understanding what a community is like. I ended up ditching it for a long time when I finally got TF2, but I'm glad that I was able to make The Yaypit and The Monastery as part of that experience. As a 6 - 10 year old when this server was originally up, which, I really shouldn't have been on here in hindsight... These blurry memories of build server madness are some of my most fond. :happycrank:

I was thinking back on some of the older games I've played, and TFC came to mind. A Google search later for the Yaypit brought me here.
I used to play on Yaypit server as VgWizard14. To be honest, I stopped playing for childish reasons; The Monastary wasn't the same thing, and my identity was tied to the server pretty tightly.

@Vihess hit the nail on the head with all the memorable people and maps. Nearly half my life later I still have the nightclub maze committed to memory (All the better to outrun everyone to the control panel!)

The server was my first taste of coding, as well. I remember being given a DLL file by someone to enable all the unique features that made the server so unique, but at the time I had zero idea what to do with it. Time begets knowledge, eh?

All in all, you guys were great.

Was talking with some friends about what games were the most influential to us growing up, and one of them said TFC. A lot of memories came flooding back about this old server. I remember RPing, random building happening by the mods, and that "Shy" was a furry? At least, he ran around with a fox model all the time. Also, "The Wurzels - Combine Harvester" is ingrained into my memory. Not sure how accurate any of those memories are, but thanks for the good times.

I remember back when I first started playing online games using my real name. Thank you for being merciful to me, Monastery. I'll never forget my time there.

Original TFC Yaypitter. Hey if you remember me It's "Mech" I used to be an annoying ♥♥♥♥ dwelling 8 year old who constantly asked for admin. Then kept changing my name to avoid being banned or kicked. Then you guys name locked me and muted me permanently. You guys are ♥♥♥♥♥ but I would have done the same. Good times. Good times.

I was only 13 when i discovered and enjoyed YayPit on TFC, i played it for so long ... i can't even tell how this period has defined my whole adolescence. The thing i regret the most is that could hardly communicate as english is not my native language.
I'm 23 today and now i realise how annoying i may have been. But i also realise my carving to know the code that created all these mods.

I remember i was dreaming about having this admin gun that was shooting stars and the multi-function egon that users occasionaly received to have a bit of fun with.

I remember a few names, like Avatar-X, Shyolt, Baron, LeetSoldier, Riddler, Ceown, MissMaul, Smoochy (jthm model), MattDavis(♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), JeffRaven.... i also remember maps such as freakle3, Minigolf, avlego, crossfire, leehotel, enthouse_b4, leetadam, skydive, the DJ club with airstrikes, Mecklenburg... The MP5 shooting slow white bullets going throught walls, grapple, trails, rocket cam, tricks with radio and soccerballs...

Farewell....

Hoooly ♥♥♥♥. I'm still in this group from 2007 or 8? Jesus...Hey, Caleb. If you remember me. HEY. Or...If CJae is Caleb...Not sure...I think he is. Anyways, yeah...I remember the Monestary or....whatever that other one was...Most of you won't remember me though. :P It's been a while. I've never even heard of people like...Sergey Faehrlich and Tree Monk. But uhh...Wait a minute...Monk sounds familiar...Oh well. But I remember the old times...Where my buildings would always be...unfrozen...But then I found Garry's mod...It was a good amounts better. :P

Anyways yeah. So see ya.
