Honestly this game never had a healthy MP component as is. It was always short on servers.

there has to be some sort of tool that is already out and can take hourly/whaterver backups...and a way to record who is breaking/blowing up what.

to run a server you just open a second copy of the game and click multiplayer then start server you will also need to forward port 31337
