There are apparently Pyros out there who think that the extra 3 damage per 2 seconds of the regular flamethrower is important. Degreaser is clearly better, especially since the Flare Gun got a major buff.

basically. Degreaser is still better but backburner is a lot more practical for pocketing.

Backburner recently had airblast added, and damage decreased. It is now being used by some of the 'better' pyros. But the majority of Backburners are still pressing keys while holding Mouse1.

alternatively, use razorback to make people angry and backburner cannot be used with skill in any way.

I'm just popping in to remind everyone about the important things.

The only item that cannot be used with skill in any way is the Razorback.
Shortstops are better at medium range, so the best way to fight them is close up.
Backburner should only be used for the purpose of making people angry.
