A New Coat of Paint

Hey everyone, you might've noticed a bit of an oddity when checking this message, if not, let me explain.

I've decided to rename U-SOG to Task Force Unity, as I believe this gives us more of a sense of identity, and also encompasses our activities ingame to a higher degree than our former alias.

This is a non-issue for you guys, I'm sure, but it feels important to me and gives me new found motivation to improve upon some things that were left in bad state with the old group layout.

Shortly after this message is sent out, I will be creating a new group and inviting all active members to it.

Have a good one.

-K

Back in The Saddle

Hey everyone, hope you've all been well.

First off I'd like to say that while I've never lost my passion for ArmA, my interest has dwindled sometimes, and this has lead to inactivity like what has happened these past few months.

However, I've been having an urge to get back into the fight and I'm sure everyone else has felt the same.

Something that did lower my interest was my failed Lythium mission, which I was hoping would take over as our preset Middle-Eastern immersive battleground, unfortunately this mission failed due to constant crashes, glitches, and general unwanted issues.

To this end, I've decided to go back to the tried and true Zeus format, which while doubtlessly more difficult for me, was usually reliable and enjoyable.

Something I do need is suggestions, I'd appreciate it if everyone could put in their ideas for a setting, a map to use, what faction we are, etc.

Here's an example, so you get what I'm talking about.
------------
EXAMPLE

I'd like to see us as a private security outfit operating in France, operations conducted by us would be VIP escort and protection, as well as property security and surveillance.

My suggested map for this scenario would be https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=639497064&searchtext=

I have chosen this map due to it's varied terrain and interesting landscapes, as well as it's opportunity for various types of mission.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With this in mind, I want a scenario we can all enjoy, because while some of us are quite happy to sit there for two hours guarding a VIP's house with the slight chance something interesting might happen, others want excitement.

To this end, ideas needs to be honest and reflective of your willingness to spend a realistic amount of time doing the mundane tasks that the scenario offers.

Thanks for reading my wall of text, I hope to see some good ideas come to light and implement them.

Catch ya.

- K

Plans for the Future

Hey folks, hope you're all doing well.

Due to some recent lack of interest in U-SOG displayed by a vast majority of the membership, any future plans are being put on hold.

My reasoning for this is that there is no point in hosting a server when nobody joins it, we had some training going on every Sunday, but after the second time people stopped coming inexplicably, I at first thought that it was a coincidence, however the Sunday's after that were just as empty.

So, until you guy's actually organize an event by contacting me and your fellow members, I'm not putting in a futile, single-person effort.

Please don't take this as a sign that U-SOG is being shut down, that is never happening, it's simply a period of inactivity until folks decide they want to get back into ArmA 3 and as a result, U-SOG.

Until then, stay safe, stay cool, and keep gaming.

- K.

Review on Respect

"I have a lot of respect for you, but I cannot and will not listen to people who have no respect for me because they need their ego stroked.

I'm here to have fun and if you guy's cant provide a fun environment then I wont be around much longer."

These are the words I am greeted to after all these years of keeping this group afloat, and now the gloves are off.

I have long said that respect is paramount here, jokes and teases are fine, however how far you go with said teasing/jokes determines if it is harmless.

Unfortunately, some people within this group don't know when the line has been crossed, now is the time I clarify that issue.

-

From this moment on, if you are found to be harassing a fellow member, or otherwise causing them discontent, you have three chances, if you do not rectify your ways, you WILL be removed from the clan.

I am sick and tired of the conflict that is becoming increasingly rampant in this group, we are here to have fun and thrive as a community.

If you don't understand or respect that, get the fuck out.

-K
Misssion Scheduling!

Hey everyone! As these new regulations and procedures roll into U-SOG, obviously we have to include one that allows us to schedule missions. But worry not! This one will be much easier, and doesn't even require any format!

Essentially, I will be primarily in charge of setting dates for ops, which means I will be taking recommendations and feedback from everyone so we can get some regular ops going, with a (hopefully) good turnout for each.

We can finally start doing squad-level operations on the regular. How exciting is that? Now, U-SOG members will have the priceless opportunity to experience leading fireteams, rather than micromanaging a small group. More on that later.

For now, please do post your suggestions for ops in the "General Discussions" sub-forum, and comment on others saying whether or not you can attend. If you can't attend, no worries-- Just hit the next one. (Late joining is discouraged for these ops.)

Also, feel free to specify what kind of op you want to do. The more detail, the better. Maybe it'll earn you a better turnout!

Of course, there will also be random server hostings as per usual for those who just wanna hop on and shoot some shit. Never any harm in that.

(Please try to allow at least a few days in advance when suggesting the time for the op to give people time to opt in and also to give Kyan time to design the mission.)

See you all in the field!

-Soldat

Introducing the new Voting system.

Hey everyone, with multiple attempts at resolving the modlist issue, and the constant fluctuations in the structure of said modlist, I have decided to include everyone in the choice, in an attempt to ease the pain of adding mods.

------------
VOTING

Starting today, any new mods will be voted on by EVERYONE in U-SOG, from the smallest tweak to the biggest overhaul, everyone will be given a choice.

This will work by a specified mod being chosen to vote on via the new Mod Voting subforum, a timer will be set to allow latecomers to vote.

If the mod gets the majority of favorable votes, it will be added, if it does not, it will be left alone until it is voted on again.

Thank you for sticking around this long, hopefully this and some more changes will improve our group substantially.

- K.

Some issues to address.

Hey gents!

I've noticed something whenever I host, people ask "what mods are we using?", or something to that effect, this post intends to clarify this issue finally, among some other errors.

I intend to create a mod repository which contains our complete modlist in one package, when this modlist is compiled, I will create a link in the official list.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Further, something I want to address is this:

Not every operation uses the standard modlist, these missions are what I call Freeform missions, they follow no set path, and likely use mods which are not included in the compilation.

Know when a mission is Freeform or Official, the biggest difference is this:

I am going to send out an announcement for each Official operation, this announcement system was put in place but never used, because I'm a slack asshole, that ends now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A word to the wise: I will feel no sympathy for anyone who fails to check this forum, I did not found this group for the page to lie unused and abandoned.

If the modlist is updated, or an announcement is sent out, it is up to YOU to check this forum, that doesn't mean check it every day, however a quick peek every now and then won't hurt, and may answer easy questions.

Starting from right now, it is up to you alone to educate yourself on the goings-on of this group, and primarily that means checking here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are a casual milsim group, but we are not young(er) children, and whenever I see someone holding up a briefing or causing a disturbance when a mission is being organized, my faith breaks little by little.

Harsher penalties are in order, mess around at your leisure: elsewhere.
I am sick to death of being blown up or shot when initiating a briefing, and from this moment anyone who does it deliberately will have hell to pay.

The hammer comes down now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that's done, some good news.

I finish my first year of school soon, that means a 6-week long break.
I intend to host daily or next-to-daily during this break.

Hopefully this will increase group morale, get us back together again, and continue U-SOG's goal of being a pleasant and damn fun group to be in and play with, however I can't do it alone, it is up to you guys to be there when possible, ready to play and doing your best in-game.

Thanks for reading, and catch you next mission.
- K.
