I can tell all of you now that Valve needs your help on porting Steam to Linux, if any of you whom knows a lot of coding in Linux or knows someone whom has knowledge of Linux, should go to Valve's website and submit their resume under "system engineer" or "have a better idea?" http://www.valvesoftware.com/jobs/job_postings.html

I'm posting this on the above group pages so we can decide on which of the top two groups to join, I would pick steam-linux because it has the most members and steam_multi-os had a message about having all its members join it. (I joined them all so I could post this message and to help boost the members in each)

Cedega runs most source games on linux, but it will cost you 45 dollar for a year.

Loving SteamForMac! Just waiting for more games to come across... Please bring MW2/BC2!!!
18 Apr, 2010 @ 4:06pm
i cant ever get stuff working in wine. i'd love for all the games in the valve complete pack to be ported over to linux.
13 Apr, 2010 @ 6:53pm
Well, Mac users get their wishthis month, having Steam WebKit based as of the beta UI should make the next multi-OS move easier, just gotta setup source. Also TF2 and I assume all Source games are having issues in the latest Wine version, thought I'd throw that out there.
13 Apr, 2010 @ 1:42pm
Agreed with Dream!
8 Apr, 2010 @ 12:26am
i would love a linux client and to be able to play source engine games on linux. that's all that's holding me back from switching! it would also help steam gain more ground by being the first mainstream company to support modern linux gaming.

i thought that, with the coming of Steam for Mac, someone would hace made a group like this. Nice to see you have been around here for over a year.

I'm happy to join a group like this.
8 Mar, 2010 @ 2:15pm
Umm.. I'd prefer if I got Steam for Linux as well as all libraries needed to play everything ever made in Linux. That would be a dreamworld. A kick-ass OS which supports gaming.

Steam for mac! Now wait other X years for linux XD

@minirice : Great News!
4 Mar, 2010 @ 2:20am
Sounds great! This is so frustrating to go bootcamped windows all of time.
1 Mar, 2010 @ 10:58am
We may be close to a Mac release! The recent Steam Client Beta release dumps the old Trident rendering engine (from IE) in favor of WebKit (used by Safari and Chrome). In addition, people poking through the beta package have found traces of Mac-type icons and even a file called "osx.menu".

Here's to the hope of some sort of Mac support in the next few months!
25 Jan, 2010 @ 9:08pm
Chrisator - I have always said that too! At least make it easier on us to spend our money buying games and see when our friends are playing stuff so we can chat with them/coordinate booting into Windows better.

It couldn't take more than a day to code a chat client for Mac and Linux.
22 Jan, 2010 @ 2:22pm
They should at least create a mac friends-browser/community type one. Doesn't even need to launch games, just to use like an IM client
20 Jan, 2010 @ 12:53am
Yeah seriously I'm using Parallel Desktop, they need to broaden their horizons :)
