AFTER 20 YEARS WITHOUT OUR FAVOURITE HERO JOHN J.RAMBO IS BACK NO TRAILER AND GAMEPLAY YET BUT A PROMISE TO RELEASE AT 2012 SUMMER.

One man army John Rambo is returning to gaming. UK publisher Reef Entertainment and supplier Creative Distribution are preparing a game based on the Rambo action film series for release next year.

"I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies, and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands," Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon told MCV. "With the success of the most recent Rambo film, and an international appetite for action movies with Expendables 2 scheduled for release next summer, we felt now was a good time to do something special with this license."

"We have big ambitions for Reef and the Rambo IP is the first step in establishing us as a worldwide player," added Reef commercial director Craig Lewis. He also mentioned that the game will be developed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The Rambo films centered around John Rambo, an ex-Special Forces soldier who saw extensive action in Vietnam. The first movie, Rambo: First Blood, depicted him as a mentally scarred vet who goes on a violent rampage after being harassed by a small town sheriff. The next three movies -Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, and Rambo - had less of the social commentary and more of Rambo killing lots of foreign soldiers. You don't need to look into a crystal ball to figure out which of those two tones they'll be using for the video game.

Would Rambo make a good game? Well, the premise itself doesn't really stand out. "A special forces guy who kills lots of people on his own" is the basis for most of the action games in existence. Still, this is a brand name that has earned hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide. That'll help it get some attention, at least.
