RUSTBA is back, new server online!

It's been a long time waiting for experimental to catchup to legacy, but it's just about there. The server is relaunching with the same anti-hacking rules. This is a VANILLA GAMEPLAY server. The mods installed are to combat hackers only, and do not change gameplay.

The server is 50 cap at launch but we'll raise it up to 100/125 as needed, like last time.

Spread the word! This will be a great, hacker/abuse free alternative to official servers.

Reminder on the anti-hacking rules:

No players with a new steam account that own only Rust
No players with private profiles
No players with unreportable names (Asian or special characters)
No using bugs/exploits.

Exceptions:

If you don't want to make your profile public add an admin as friend for them to verify.
If you have a friend who just bought Rust, talk to an admin and we may whitelist them.

Next Wipe

There is a pretty good chance we will see a wipe around this Friday. I do expect a new patch to be out around then, but we've been coasting at around 30 people all week, so it will be about time.

We want to stay on around a wipe every 2 weeks schedule, unless population stays steady at 50+.

We don't love that we have to wipe, but 30 people isn't enough. That being said, its not low enough to justify an immediate wipe, so we are going to ride the week out and probably wipe near the end of the week.

Any comments or concerns, post here. We need feedback as much as possible.

Also, what do you guys think about making c4 not craftable? Its something we are thinking about, but would not go for without nearly unanimous support from the community.

1. How many rust hours have you logged so far?: 475 hours...

2. What player or group is your biggest adversary?: Rot for sure, hes a nice guy, just loves to kill everyone :)

3. What is your favorite weapon and why?: Bolt action, because if you're good, its a one shot to the head, even in kev.

4. Whats your favorite place to go to to look for fights? French valley or split rad town

5. Where are you located? South SF, Bay Area!

6. Favorite player: Creepinnnn

7. Most hated player: Was 21 Bolt action, not because he was a bad guy, but because he was too good.

8. Who is your favorite Admin?: this is rhetorical. I am putting Fieras regardless of what you say ;) <----this. Not to mention he actually is a good guy.

Wipe Today

Just too many people asking for wipe and not enough people on to consider not wiping.

For those of you against the wipe, if you were on the server today, then I could justify not wiping, but 5 people is just not enough to wait.

Wiping this evening around 6:30pm.

Regarding Bans of Bolt Action Bandits Crew

You will all hear through the grapevine that bolt actions crew has been banned.

I am not going to go into a ton of detail regarding this, but we thought, based on the circumstances, that the server would be a better place without them.

1. Whiterussian banned them, not me. He was PART OF THEIR GROUP and he even agreed they were abusive and bad for the server.
2. Immediately after the ban, they said they are going to DDOS us, so if we get hit, you know why.
3. They are a cancer that we will all be better off without.

Server Issues

Hey John,

Last night at around 11pm GMT, we updated your Rust server. Following that update, we’ve started to notice a very large memory leak in the server code which is causing busier servers to actually restart. As you can see from the image below, the difference before and after the update is clear, with the server eating up a huge amount of memory.

Usually with an issue like this, we’d just raise the limits slightly to reduce the number of server restarts, but this leak is so huge that we can’t possibly do that. Fortunately, when Clanforge restarts a server it forces a save of the world, so you shouldn’t lose any server data due to this issue.

We’ve contacted the developers Facepunch about this issue who have confirmed that they’re working on a fix, and will patch this memory leak as soon as they can. Until then, we ask that you bear this memory leak in mind when contacting our support department.

With early access titles like Rust there are often issues such as this one that need ironing out, but it’s all a part of the process of being directly involved in the development of the game. There is a bug where you will sometimes die when mining a node. There is going to be another patch in the next few hours to fix it.

You're not getting killed by hackers.
