Satisfactory Server is Up!

We finally figured out how to get a Satisfactory server running! Joining it, however, requires a special set of commands:

1. Start the game
2. Press the ~ key to bring up the console
3. Type "open factorio.pony.dev" and press enter

The server will be up 24/7, so feel free to drop by and help with building things whenever!

Satisfactory is on sale for 20% off, and after we finish our current Space Exploration Factorio game, we're planning on trying to get a Satisfactory game together. If you were ever interested in getting Satisfactory, this sale is your chance!

We hope to keep the satisfactory server up 24/7 once it's launched, so that everyone can have a chance to contribute to the factory. However, Satisfactory doesn't have official dedicated servers yet, so we're going to have to hack together a solution for that first. Once the server is up, we will post a separate announcement with connection information.

If you would like to be pinged when the server goes live, be sure to join the Satisfactory role in the discord chat by typing "!joinrole Satisfactory" in the #bot channel.

#ponydev is moving to Steam!

In light of Microsoft inevitably buying Discord in the coming weeks, we've decided to be proactive and move #ponydev to Steam, keeping our community free from the clutches of Microsoft! We noticed that everyone would rather play games together than actually write code, so moving to Steam was the obvious choice. Frequently Asked Questions

Where did the categories go? Steam doesn't have categories, so we just got rid of them all. It's neater that way!

What about custom emotes? Steam has it's own set of custom emotes you can utilize! Of course, you might have to buy them, or something.

Is sweetie bot here? Sweetie bot is a Discord bot, not a Steam bot. Also, Steam doesn't have bots. Luckily, thanks to Steam group chat having almost no features having a better userbase, there aren't any spam problems, so we don't need any bots!

What happened to my custom role? Steam auto-assigns your roles so you don't have to! And also doesn't have any custom roles in the first place. But it's less work for you!

What if I don't have Steam? We're pretty sure this is physically impossible, so you must be lying. Everyone has Steam! It's even available on your phone, for some reason!

This is a terrible idea! That's not a question, but if you have feedback concerning our management of #ponydev, please leave it in the flaming trash bin marked "USER FEEDBACK" that's sitting in the lobby.

Migration Plan

Naturally, this is a big change for the community, so we're giving everyone a generous migration period of one (1) day, or 24 hours, before we obliterate the Discord server and everything in it. Unless we change our minds, of course. Until then, all steam announcements will be cross-posted to discord to make the transition easier. Have fun!
