Last night a new project was checked in on our VS Source Control, with the help of Roland :D

You will all need to do a 'Get' so you have the up to date project. The block out of 'Frank's Apartment' has been finished in Leadwerks.

There is rough CSG for some prop placement such as, bed in the bedroom, bath and toilet and sink in the bathroom, couch and tv and mirror in the living room and also worktop's and counter's for the kitchen.

The rough CSG give's us an idea of where the prop's will be placed in the level so throughout set dressing the map we can swap out the CSG for models.

So the demo GDD is complete. A few minor tweaks is needed but nothing that anyone needs to worry about :)

The demo GDD is to be followed at all times throughout development.

This GDD is the foundation to our demo for Phobia and is there to give us all an understanding of what the demo will consist of, from game art to game play.

Please follow this GDD at all times as this is what is going to keep development consistent.

Whilst fixing up the lighting and seam issue we have been having in our map I was thinking of some more ways to get the game out there and create a stir in the horror genre.

With games like 'The Evil Within' and 'Alien: Isolation' coming out, I have been thinking how to market our game and spread the word even more!


With websites like 4chan and Creepypasta and Reddit, users love a good story and will get things to a viral level very easily.

My idea is that we make up a fake story that revolves around the development of Phobia. The idea is that we make up a fake team member who we have brought on board to specifically do game art (modelling, texturing etc.)

When the demo is near completion we make a fake account on Reddit pretending to be this new team member. The story will kick off with a post that explains that this 'team member' will be stopping development for the game with the follow reason:

"I've had some fun developing Phobia but I am leaving the team. Weird ♥♥♥♥'s been happening and it's starting to get me paranoid.

I've been seeing stuff in the game engine, stuff that shouldn't be there!

The other day I was doing some lighting around a level and saw shadows that had been baked on to the wall. This wasn't a normal defect like we usually have, this shadow looked like a person had hung themselves!!!

I've taken some shot's and will upload later for everyone to see. I ain't superstitous but this game is a bad omen."


I've had a lot of time to think about this one and there is 3 ways it can go. Either people won't care and they won't take any interest or people will call it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and 'fake' or it catches on and goes viral!


To make this work we are gonna need some kind of 'proof'. I was thinking of taking some shot's in engine of the level without textures and partially built. Then I can Photoshop some and make these lighting defects look like creepy shadows. This effect will have to be done in a subtle way, nothing to obvious that people can straight away see that it is all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Any idea's/thoughts please leave a post. I think this is a great idea, nothing get's a game going viral than a good old story like this from the inside whether its leaked pictures/gameplay video's. Only this is something a bit more elaborate.

I have a TeamSpeak server set up for a guild that I manage on Path Of Exile, but I've split off a section just for Narcoleptic Studios, which is password protected and secure for the team to use for anything from general discussions to the meetings, this way there is no limit to how many people we can host within the meeting discussions, as far as I am aware Skype implemented some changes limiting the amount of people ver voice call for free accounts.

We will be able to record the meetings and or chats, also there is text chat for groups there and I can probably set it up to record the chat logs for us to use and backtrack on if needed.

The server has a 99.9% uptime guarantee...

I will be leaving myself logged into this thing when I am at the computer, sometimes I have trouble logging into Steam for some reason, but I should always be reachable on there, Skype or via my email.
