ORCA is yet another talent rising out of the city of Brighton & Hove and has been receiving a fair amount of attention as of late.

The best way to describe this track is as an amalgamation of percussive brilliance and perfectly processed electronic elements, the combination of which makes for blissful listening at any time.

Weezy was born on September 27, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lil Wayne worked with hip-hop group the Hot Boys before forging a solo career with albums Tha Carter and its hit follow ups II, III and IV. He won four Grammy Awards in 2009 for singles like "A Milli" and "Lollipop," and has worked with artists ranging from Robin Thicke to Nicki Minaj. He was jailed in 2010 for weapon's possession.

Trap music is based on use of the 808 Roland drum machine, pitched and re-sampled hiphop/rap vocals, pipe flutes, gangsta synth leads, and various FX. Similar to rap without the main vocal, Trap music has been gaining lots of attention from major DJ’s and labels. Although, the style originated many years ago, Trap music has recently been making a new school comeback in many new forms such as “Trap”, “Chirp”, “SeaPunk”, “PsyTrap”, and “TrapStep”. Earliest known examples can be found by artists such as Triple Six Mafia, UGK, Swisha House, and Gucci Mane. Tempos range widely from 135-175bpm which is uncommon for most major genres of electronic dance music (EDM).

In laymen’s terms, Trap music would be best described as a recipe;

1/3 hip hop (tempo and song structure similar) – however vocals are usually pitched lower or higher
1/3 dubstep (similar drum arrangements, different builds and drops)
1/3 dub (Low frequency focus and strong emphasis on repetitiveness throughout a song)

Mindfields

Describing herself as the "gangsta Nancy Sinatra" and her music as Hollywood Sadcore, Lana Del Rey's self made videos for the tracks have already caused a major stir on You Tube. Just as her D.I.Y video for "Video Games" hit around the 500,000 hits mark it was promptly banned. Bad girl Ms Del Rey has well and truly set the scene.

Lana Del Rey grew up in Lake Placid on the outer edges of New York State. At 18, she fulfilled her lifelong ambition of decamping to New York City. Herein some of her unique musical flavour was incubated.

Lana's songs came out of a mixture of her love of David Lynch, Black and White 50's movies, Coney Island, Hip-Hop and heartbreak. "There's something beautiful about the fight. About any fight" explains Lana "I'm talking about epic, knocked-down, dragged-out love stories in song. That's what I'm heading towards.
