I initially posted a terse announcement without the intention of airing dirty laundry, however as it was deleted by the previous server owner I feel I need to make it very clear what has happened.

When I first joined the AHF PVE server around January 2015 it was about to be shut down because of lack of funding. I have volunteered to sponsor the server and in return I was given admin privileges. At that point of time the server was a vanilla Epoch setup with half-assed hosting defaults. When that happened, I have progressively reworked the server into something entirely different, adding tons of scripts and custom content, as well as managing player relationships and being as helpful as I can to create the wonderful community that has lasted until now. I have also created this group, as a means to post announcements about server updates and events for all the players who use this server as their home.

As September began, there was a sharp drop in players, to the point the server stood unused for an entire week in a row, and I began having doubts whether I should continue paying for it. As I was dissatisfied by the level of service I was receiving from the current hosting, I decided to move the server to my own Linux machine, which took several weeks of preparatory work. Until today, this new server was a test server on which nobody ever played.

Unfortunately the owner of the hosting account, who is also the original owner of the server and who, to his credit, has shelled out $40 for the admin script even before I began playing and then administrating the old server, decided to shut it down against my explicit wishes and use the remaining funds in the account to launch a new Arma 3 server. I was locked out of the control panel of the hosting (I do not know if this is intentional). As I view this as essentially a theft of my money, I have no intention of either supporting or funding this enterprise in any fashion. This left me with the running Linux server and the death of the original one.

When I posted the original announcement that the server has moved to my Linux setup, it was deleted by Aaron and replaced with the announcement you can see below this one.

Subsequently the current situation is as follows.

1) The new server is up at epoch.catnarok.net port 2302 and will remain up as long as there is player interest. This server is currently running on a very old database copy however I have a more recent one.

2) This Steam group will not be associated with Aaron's Arma 3 enterprise in any fashion, and Aaron has been demoted from this group's administration. Using this group to promote the new Arma3 servers in the community I built after basically stealing money from me to start those servers is petty and immature, even if it's barely ten quid remaining on the balance we're talking about. All related branding has been removed, except for the group name which can not be changed.

3) The infistar admin script that Aaron paid for will be removed from my new server at the next update cycle. I have not paid for it and have no right to use it. I therefore reject the argument that I got the $40 script "for free" and that it somehow justifies taking my money and using it against my wishes. If the new server continues I will purchase my own copy of infistar.

4) I was originally planning to retain Aaron as a honorary server admin once I move out to the new Linux hosting. Given all of the above this is obviously not going to happen.

5) Aaron still owes me ten quid for things completely unrelated to the server, he was short on money once and I lent it to him freely because I was trying to be nice.

6) Everything posted above is true to the best of my knowledge.

We have 2 BRAND NEW dedicated servers, owned by a brand new dev team, an Atlis Life and an Day-Z Epoch server both for Arma 3. These servers are running on superfast servers for minimum connection delays.

As you might know I am planning to move the server to my own setup which will be Linux-based. The conversion of the scripts is taking longer than I thought; thus, I am renewing the old server for 1 more month.

After several requests I've decided to end the Long Night early. I know many of you enjoyed it. The code for it is still there for future use :)

Hey boys,

The Long Night event will be finished on Monday. I realize that not everybody likes it so if sufficient opposition is voiced I will end it earlier.

On a side note a patch has been applied to fix the stuck login screen issue.
