Hey i just join in to this group and i want to make space engineers more great, so there i start https://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=913592615&searchtext=mech
I uploaded last night so try it and rate it.

Ok cool to know, will experiment with the timers. Thanks
halipatsui 20 Apr, 2017 @ 2:16am
Radar
You dont really need scripts. Animations can mostly be done with timers but presicion provided by scripts tends to give better performance

I have Teamspeak and would welcome a chat

Hello, I'm a new guy to the group, would love some insight on the scripts and how to use them in the developement of making my mechs mobile other than flight. I'm all ears.

You can see a example of piston muscle here. They are not that hard to build. Here it is in the backside of the larger mechs knee.
Pretty much space engineers equivalent for hydraulics. Altough a bit laggy one.
Vollstrecker 6 Dec, 2016 @ 3:09pm
Gonna keep experimenting and tweaking things but it may just end up being a pretty (semi-functional) statue XD
Vollstrecker 6 Dec, 2016 @ 3:03pm
That's actually the script I am running currently (also Coren's Automation 2.0 for movement). And I believe you are right, finding a balancer that works with these small gyros is an issue in and of itself. The problem is, as we sort of discussed, in a realistic scenario, you would have pneumatic actuators and hydrolics to work with, of course in the game we don't (piston not withstanding) and that creates the complications I am facing. Would love to see KSH impliment some means of overiding the rotors to apply reverse force to counteract weight distribution which would totally eliminate this problem, especially for mech building.

Also what kind of balance script you are using?
If you try to align it with small grid gyros it might not work.
At least i have not gotten good balancer results with small ship gyros.
Up there is a link to my wip mech guide on keen softwarehouse forum.
It has tips for mech building.
You can check it out There are advice related to both balancing and joint movement.
Vollstrecker 6 Dec, 2016 @ 2:40pm
Yeah that's what I have currently. I only have so much to work with to keep this looking true to form too though so that limits my options significantly.
halipatsui 6 Dec, 2016 @ 2:39pm
But i have!
If problem is strength of upper joints you can try to hide large grid rotors inside your mech.
They are much more powerful than small ones.
You can also try to make piston muscles.
Pistons are pretty much infinitely strong.
I recomend using large rotors tho because they are much less clangy.
Vollstrecker 6 Dec, 2016 @ 2:27pm
Well... therein lies the problem. I am trying to keep it vanilla but with that comes the challenge of getting it to walk without mods/excessive scripting. So far I have it to where it can take a few steps but then comes crashing down depite autobalancing scripts and the like. The problem is that the provided rotors don't have enough rearward force to push against the weight of the body, so I am about at wits end with trying to figure out a solution. To that end, IF ANYONE HAS A SOLUTION TO THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW, I would love to have this thing working by the holiday.
halipatsui 4 Dec, 2016 @ 11:48pm
How fast is it?
halipatsui 4 Dec, 2016 @ 11:44pm
So far that is the most detailed at-at i have seen.

Hi everybody.
Here is a easy balancer you can use to keep mechs upright.

Hi thanks for invite. Currently i consider my greates achievements to be my 60km/h (pretty constant 15m/s) quadpedal design and REX rex is not currently optimised and can reach 2.5km/h but its chassis has reached 8km/h and i am right now aiming towards unmanned bipedal designs. Id be happy to share tips and tricks with this group. Do we have any scripters here btw?
