i think, that valve should let us have plugins for steam, just like skins, if u know what i mean.
Graal Otonami 31 May, 2013 @ 5:40pm
Welp, this is dead, and the ability to play music in the browser negates this somewhat...
atikkur 12 Mar, 2013 @ 6:04pm
this will be a good feature and i think it's necessary too for convenient... at miniminal, valve only have to provide the audio control in steam overlay (play/pause/stop/prev/next/sound volume) and then link it with winamp or whatever free music apps that support hotkeys. the music processing then handled by that application, so valve doesn't need to build music engine. please make it comes true

nice thread im a spotify user myself so id like to run that in the overlay :D
Ninto55 22 Mar, 2012 @ 12:16pm
Great work! Why has this not picked up? Why is this not in steam allready?
SunnieD_ 21 Mar, 2012 @ 5:42pm
By the way i took the liberty of invitting 17 friends.
SunnieD_ 21 Mar, 2012 @ 5:39pm
Thx for inviting me and I REALLY AGREE. There should be a media player for steam. Its true that i have to Alt-TAB out of my game to fix the volume.
Ninto55 5 Jan, 2012 @ 7:00pm
And now they invite their friends... come on guys this isn't complicated :(
Ninto55 4 Jan, 2012 @ 2:53pm
So you know what, ♥♥♥♥ it. I invited all of my friends. Guys, please take the time to invite all of your friends, maybe someone will stumble upon a sudden, random 3,000 extra people and try to do something.

Ah, I remember this. Too bad we never did anything. I would love it if I could manage mp3s or something from my steam overlay.

If Xfire can have this, why not Steam? This should have come before being able to add youtube your videos to your account

I use my iPod as a remote for iTunes over wi-fi. It works like a charm during games :D

Ok... What if it wasn't just a simple player? You know, sometimes music in games is important, but not really that necesary. And sometimes it's just imperative, like in the more cinematic moments or in cutscenes... An internal player could help the developers easily set that mood for the player. Having them listen to their music at most of the time and then changing in the moments of need... yep, you surely have seen it somewhere else... But anyway, that's not something that you could make with an external player...

This. But most music players today have global hotkeys. Like Winamp. But i definetly wanna change playlist.

You know that this will probably not work...

I have a Microsft Sidewinder X6 Keyboard, and the media control keys (play/pause, mute etc) come in very handy for changing music in-game on the fly, so the overlay should have native support for media controls on keyboards.
Waco Taco 6 Jul, 2009 @ 12:26pm
Good thing with grooveshark is they've now added an auto playlist thing that adds stuff to your queueueueueuueeeueee based on what is currently in there
Kilroy 5 Jul, 2009 @ 7:03am
All i do is use that spotify free music thing, but have to set up a playlist and listen to the same songs over and over again. Like the idea of a practicle Media player <:D
Waco Taco 2 Jul, 2009 @ 9:10am
You can already do this. Hit the "Web" button in overlay, visit www.grooveshark.com

maybe just letting the specific apps to be dispalyed on the overlay would do?
KillDieDaViolenceGuy! 29 Jun, 2009 @ 6:05am
I wouldn't mind internet radio or something similar either.
