Looking 4 Difference: Made Public

I am about to change this to a public group, as nobody has taken up the torch to lead. I do not have the time to actively promote, so I hope by doing this, the group will get some more traffic.

General philosophy here is that only people that actually agree with the group's principles will join. There are more popular groups for the less amiable of our community to harrass than this one.

Happy gaming,
Logicality

Inactivity

To the members of L4Diff,

You may have noticed a decline in activity related to this group. Part of this is because I am no longer able to commit as much time to this group as I once was, due to school and other commitments. While I do hope to occasionally play with you all in the future, I can't promise support for L4Diff until at least July.

With this in mind, I'd like to extend an offer. If any of you would like to take the reins and become the lead administrator of Looking 4 Difference, contact me and let me know. Though I usually do not have time for matches, I continue to log into Steam when I log into my computer, so I should be easily reachable.

Happy Gaming,
Logicality

Rules Addition

Unless agreed on beforehand by both parties in a game, members of Looking 4 Difference are strongly discouraged from parking the tank. While it can be argued that this is a valid tactic, the purpose of this group is not to gather people who want to win, but those who want to have fun.

Parking the tank is not fun for the infected because it means nobody's tank. Nor is it even fair for the survivors, as they cannot hear the tank music when the tank really poses a threat. Until this is fixed, it is in my eyes an exploit.

As per past operations there will be no penalty for disobeying this rule--rather, it is in the spirit of Looking 4 Difference to do this, and members are expected to follow the "spirit of the game".

Happy weekend everyone,
Logicality

Help us grow ;)

Hi again :)

Well we have this group which is growing at steam, but some of us decided to make it more like a team in some way with the same background in mind. Logicality started it and it will always run under his flag :)

So what im trying to say.. We founded a Team to play at Electronics Sports League ( ESL). And because we are so many different nations here we also talked about founding subteams for each country, if people are interessted. We already have a dedicated server a homepage will be build and if you want to take part we would be happy if you do..and if its only supporting us in our IRC channel @ Quakenet #Looking4Difference

So please feel welcome to join us there and also join the team if you think this could be fun :)

Server Proggie HLSW

Hi guys and girls ;)

just in case you are as tired as me of the lobby problems we all have most of the time you could try this nice little proggie. Some know it for sure for CS. Its called HLSW. And they updated it now for L4D in Version 1.3.1

www.hlsw.org ( you can change language to english as soon as you enter )

Just click on the Game-Info if someone plays and copy paste the IP or directly use the HLSW L4D list to connect to a server. And you will never have bad pings ( red connection ) again.

greets Wasp

Reminder: The Rules

Thought I'd post a quick reminder about the rules of the group. I'd like everyone to pay special attention to rules 2 and 6.

Note that I'm not going to ban anyone for breaking these rules--everyone screws up every once in a while, and to kick someone out for a one-time offense is just lame. However, if the need arises, the steam ID of repeat offenders will be listed in a group announcement.

1. No mics required.

2. No exploiting, or doing anything that goes against the spirit of the game or otherwise gives you an unfair advantage (this includes but is not limited to closet camping)

3. People join the group to have fun--members are expected to realize that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose so long as both sides have fun.

4. In addition to the previous rule, it's expected that players are decent to eachother on all chat channels. Use common sense here.

5. Listen to the strategies suggested by other players. If you object, say so without flaming, and suggest an alternative. Players are expected to go with the strategy the majority prefers, because four players using a bad strategy is better than only one player using a great one.

6. If someone crashes and their spot is taken, the newcomer is not to be votekicked. Most games are played on public servers, and they aren't ours to administrate. If a player is decent they shouldn't be kicked for not being in a certain group.

Cheers,
Logicality

ATTN: Regarding chatroom & availability

It has been brought up on the L4Diff forum that as this group gets larger, we may get to a point where the STEAM friends window will hide names of people in the group. This has supposedly happened with other groups of a similar nature to this one, and as a result, games involving members of them have decreased--most likely because it's more difficult to see if someone's online, playing something else, etc..

As a workaround, members are asked to join the L4Diff chatroom (located at its STEAM page) when they are up for games with L4Diff members. This will expedite the process of gathering folks for games, as it will be obvious who can play and who can't, in addition to solving this "large group cutoff" that has been mentioned.

In short: If you're up for a game, or are currently in one with other L4Diff members, please join the L4Diff chatroom.

Thank you,
Logicality
