The issue is that Valve has stated that they will continue to support L4D as if that justifies releasing a new game, but what the idiot fanboys don't get is tha nobody will be playing L4D if 2 comes out. Why the hell aren't they focusing on HL2: Ep3 instead of releasing a whole new game just a year after the first L4D?

I hope Valve doesn't turn into Bungie.

I don't think it should be made an expansion on the original but should be made a new and better game instead. You have to remember that Valve is a company first, not our friend and so is out to make a profit. If Left 4 Dead 2 players could play with Left 4 Dead players imagine how much money Valve would lose as a result. Apart from that i agree completely with this post and it is a great compromise for both parties.

My two cents: Valve should release L4D2 for a cut price for the first week. They have seen sales skyrocket with past price cuts. I think this would be adequate middle ground that could possibly quell the "boycotters" and make the game more available to people on a tight budget. I was just in the process of creating a petition group when i saw this URL was taken. Good work guys! I'm posting to reddit right now!
