May I have a question...?
Did anyone of you guys have the following error?
"error 0003 could not compile file 'aiLoaderStandard.xs"

The mod used to works well until I made a total computer format.
The base game has no errors, even if I run the older version of the mod (with three news civs) by clicking age3m.exe but if I try to run the game by age3b.exe, when the round is preparing to play, loading map I mean, I have got above error ...
I have tried everything, 5 times total uninstall of the game on Steam, changing direction, updating all the drivers, running the Asian Dynasties befote i install the mod etc.
Why the newer version of the mod do not work after computer format while the older do? Should I install something extra? Older version of DirectX or so...?

Hey, how do I download the mods here? And is there a mod for no restriction to Population Limit? I tried elsewhere to find mods, but they don't seem to support Steam-downloaded AoE3...

Uhm, it depends on the mod. I mean some mods can be in an archive and you would need to just extract them into the game, others have installers, my mod has the patcher.

Probably all serious mods have installation instructions so just follow those.
I don't think you need to manually place everything in folders for any big mod, just the whole thing.

So here is another question. I know some games with mods come in a zipped folder, then proceed to automaticlly put the mod into the right area. So would I just take the zipped folder then drop it into the "bin" folder? Or would I take the sound files out and out them in with the sounds folder? Or even just extract the zipped file, then just drop everything into the "bin" folder?

If you plan on installing multiple mods then that is not exactly recommended as they will not work at the same time if they modify the same files.

Big mods such as this mod and others don't work "together", so if you plan on combining mods, well, I'm sorry to bring the bad news.

Installing mods is rather simple most of the time, files need to get in the game's main directory.
For the Steam version that is the "bin" folder in "Steam/steamapps/common/Age Of Empires 3/bin".

Installing the Improvement Mod is as simple as downloading the mod's patcher and placing it in the "bin" folder, then running it as administrator.
Just make sure the original game is ran at least once before you run the mod and that you run the mod from the patcher at least once. This is to ensure everything is written in the windows registry for everything to work as it should.

There a few that you can download off the web but not exactly for sure how to insert them into the game(Via bought from Steam) I was wondering if somebody could possibly be kind enough to help me through this process. Yes it is. My mod works on all game versions but is recommended for the Steam version.

Yes, Swedish are a work in progress. Progress on them has been paused to release the new African (and Oceania) maps. It will resume afterwards.

Just a quick question, is the Swedish Civ currently playable? When I create a swedish home city, it just has russian civ cards. Everything else works fine, so I assume Sweden is still WIP?

I installed the mod, tried playing it but i can only get to the loading screen. Where the "coin flips". Nothing is happening. Anyone know whats wrong ?

Soooo, campaign bugs should be fixed now and a new installer release is approaching. A big one.

I know about the campaign bugs and they will be fixed. They are the last big bug that I need to fix before releasing 5.5 (plus some under the hood fixing).

There are several levels in the Chinese Campaign that I have not been able to play. It turns out my previous comment only applied to most of the Chinese campaign. Any thoughts Mandos?

Hey Mandos, I can start up the game, but as soon as it finishes loading a campaign mission it crashes. Now warning, just the bar reaches the end and then the game crashes.

This mod has had an amazing impact on an already great game. Cannot wait for more content. Improvement mod by far is one of the best mods I have played. Thanks for all your hard work on this mod. Hopefully the aoe2 will be won by me.

Yes, it was a link to a very good torrent I once found, it quickly installed the latest version of the game and it's expansions and it had no WarChiefs registry bug some other installations have.
It also didn't have any cracks because the game does not need a crack, you only need a legitimate cdkey to make it work. How you obtain that cdkey is up to you.
But the torrent was sadly removed, plus, many people don't want to touch torrents so yeah, I left it like that.

The best thing you can do is to buy the full game from Steam, maybe wait for a sale.

I would like to use this mod too, it looks awesome, but I bought age of empires "gold edition" years ago, it only has the warchiefs, no asian dynastys. It seems that I cannot get the asian dynastys from any retailer for download, and downloading "for free" from the internet seems kinda if-y. Any idea on how I can get the Asian Dynastys?

Installer version 5.5 has no fixed date. I know it's been more than a year since the last installer release but, well I worked a lot on the mod and I know there's still stuff to do and I want installer releases to be as final as possible.
Maybe I don't make a lot of sense but... Well we have the patcher so I don't see any huge problems here.

The only reason for which I should really rush to release a new installer is the updated patcher, as the patcher from 5.4 doesn't work anymore and I get a lot of people ( A LOT) asking how to make it work.

Thirdly, my patcher does not connect to master, run as admin ofc, tried to allow through firewall but i do not see it on the list, sry if theres an answer to this elsewhere i couldnt find it. The winter/holiday/Christmas event update was just released! It contains an official Christmas themed map called the Winter Wonderland and festive props, such as Christmas trees, presents and nose glowing reindeers.

And this is not all, the Hold the Fort! (KotH) game mode was changed to feature all his Christmas joy and will remain so for this entire winter. And yes, expect such events for other holidays in the future.

Installer version 5.5 will also be released soon so keep an eye on the mod's blog for more details.

im having a problem with my steam key because the launcher just wont accept it even though im using the original AoE 3 complete collection key ;(

Yes, upon installing the mod only Asian Dynasties will work, the other two give an unexplained error, but as I said a million times before, if you have Asian Dynasties there is absolutely no reason to play vanilla or Warchiefs anymore, as Asian Dynasties contains everything the other two have PLUS more.

mjc_wessels, probably everything... Once again, here are the instructions:
1. Install Age of Empires 3 (do not install any cracks after you finish, you just need a serial)
2. Install The WarChiefs (watch out what version of this one you install, some are broken)
3. Install The Asian Dynasties (try not to run any of them until you complete all steps)
4. Update Age of Empires 3 (latest version: 1.14)
5. Update The WarChiefs (latest version: 1.06)
6. Update The Asian Dynasties (latest version: 1.03)
7. Install mod and run the patcher to update (run as administrator)

I seem to encounter a problem with the improvement mod. I successfully downloaded and installed the mod, but I get the "initialization error" (and the game shuts down) when I attempt to start the FIRST aoe 3, the two expansions work fine. As a result, I can't play on gameranger.

Probably because it's like "home made" and not by some big company, Chrome thinks it's dangerous or some ♥♥♥♥, I dunno...

You can play as the USA on LAN but not on ESO, as far as I know. Again one of the so wonderful modding limitations, in order for the USA to be properly added it should have replaced an existing civ. If you've followed the mod from it's early stages you should know I actually wanted to go through with this madness and remove either the Aztecs or the Dutch so I could add the USA...
But removing an existing civ is not the solution, so instead of adding a million civs and ♥♥♥♥ up the game, I focused on the existing civs to make them as enjoyable and unique as possible.

So, to be clear, you can't play as the USA online, right?

Ah, I see. That's understandable. But, all the other factions are great; awesome work!

astuccio: no, not really, I'm not sure what you downloaded. There are 2 ways to install the mod, with the installer or patcher. Both of them have a custom icon with the AoE3 logo on it.

Inquisitioner: yes, I know the USA civ has problems and that's the reason I abandoned work on it, it has some unfixable bugs like the fame/export display thing and not much can be done. Sorry.

Hi, I've downloaded this mod off its latest version on moddb for my steam version of the game and applied the new patch exe from website, with working patching. Upon getting the latest version and trying out the U.S i encountered some bugs.

- Fame/export did not display the count accurate, especially seen when purchasing from the consulate. Like lets say I have 1400 and buy something for 400 and it'll just remain on my hud at 1400.

- The command post is nowhere seen to be built. Upon getting the command center wagon, it was useless and could not throughout any age build the command center upgrade.

- Levy/minutemen did not work at all, they took my resources and went into a cooldown but never showed up. Only exception was my fort which died and dropped some - though I never purchased any there.

Other then that I've so far a very enjoyable experiance and found it an awesome mod with loads of amazing fixes, a must have mod !
