Rustopians of The Word Unite! What an interesting month it’s been on GRT Rust SA! We saw a few new faces visiting our little corner of Rust and the loyal regulars banding together to stake their claim. The unexpected clan drop in caused absolute mayhem and saw friends inadvertently turning on friends, in an attempt to protect and reclaim their property. Admin may have been generous this cycle and hopes that all enjoyed the opportunity to expand, explore and improve.

Be warned however as there will be no such luxuries in the coming cycle. We are entering the festive season, but the spirit of giving will be limited to Christmas day! Santa Clause is coming to town! :)

We’re looking forward to this much anticipated updated and embrace the change to start again, new life beginnings. If you’ve been playing this past month you’ve got the hang of the new components system and enjoyed the removal of XP and level crafting limitations. Keep your fingers crossed that we see the new and improved cave system making its appearance.

Winter is Coming! As per usual Rust Schedule it’s time again for the monthly update and wipe on 3 November. We hope you’re as excited as we are about the upcoming changes and game improvements. The developers have made a significant effort in the past month to include as many the new game changes in this month’s update as possible. It is unclear if the new improved cave systems will be included in this update, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. Rumor has it that the new cave system should allow up to an 8 player underground base to be built, if the cave system and cavities are utilized efficiently. If we’re lucky enough to see this included in this update, there will surely be much competition for these limited cave bases. As an added bonus to our loyal members we have now also increased the population capacity of our server from 50 to 100. We will also be increasing the map size from 3000 to 3500 to accommodate additional players and increased resources. We look forward to seeing you online and appreciate your continued support.

Notice has been received from Facepunch that there will a Forced, Worldwide Server Wipe Tonight!

Gary, one of the Lead Developers of Rust has announced that plans are in the works to move Rust from Alpha to Beta in the next few months, this has unfortunately resulted in some unscheduled updates and forced wipes.

Since there had recently been a server wipe it was expected that the usual monthly wipe would be postponed. Updates to the game and minor tweaks to the graphics and XP interface has made it necessary to return to the usual monthly scheduled Wipe Dates.

We apologize to our faithful supporters for the inconvenience caused. Please take note that, as is the usual procedure on GRT Rust SA, the server will temporarily be “modded” into “Quick Start” mode.

Those who have been with us for while know that we want to help get you going again after a wipe. For the 3 days immediately following a wipe all players that join will be given a minimum start level of 15 and also benefit from increased resource gathering and smelting rates. After 3 days the mod will be removed and server returns to full vanilla, community server. This is just to give our loyal supporters a bit of a head start.

We apologize again for any inconvenience caused by these recent forced wipes and look forward to seeing you online again soon. As per current Facepunch info the next wipe will only be 03/11/2016. So loads of fun to be had before then.

Unfortunately recent hardware updates by our hosting provider, to ensure the ongoing peak performance of our server, has also caused a wipe. As a result of this the server was offline for a number of hours yesterday. We’re glad to report that the server is back up and running better than ever. We still have the best performing server with the lowest ping in the South African Rust Directory. To assist our loyal supporters in getting going again, we have temporarily modded the server to give everyone Level 15 and full XP. (No Need to Start From Level 1 Again) The gathering and furnace smelting rate has also been boosted, to make resource gather go much faster. Our loyal supporters have until end of day Wednesday, 5 October 2016, to claim their Level 15, stock up on resources and establish a new base. We encourage friends wanting to play together to all take advantage of this Quick Start opportunity. Thank you for your ongoing support. The Island of Tarth had for generations been quietly watched over from Evenfall Hall in Castle Tarth. These lands have always been harsh, but conflict limited to the daily roars and scuffles of Shadowcats and Direwolves.
