Men ARE responsible for the wrongs of society, thanks to socialization, and the fact that anyone who commits a violent crime is described as having a mental issue (usually the case with white men) DOES stigmatize mental illness. People are always ‘sane’ until they hurt someone else, then suddenly their behavior is attributed to a mental disorder. Like that guy who was mad that women weren’t throwing themselves at his feet and so he went on a violent rampage after making several rants hating women and men of color. His actions were defended with the mental illness excuse instead of people just admitting he was a raging violent ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Mental issue is used to excuse violence because they ‘just couldn’t help themselves’ AND it’s used mostly for the benefit of men, as women are already joked to be ‘crazy’ and have other mental issues.
