actually we have a new space engineers server again since recently, but I forgot to put it up here.
There's a dedicated machine in Helsinki (since about half a year) which I rented solely for Fennecweb usage, so expect Left4Dead2 servers and Zomboid and such to come back, and I've also been thinking of setting up a Factorio server with a good slab of basic mods that even beginning players would appreciate :)

Actually I've been religiously keeping the twitter channel up to date, can't be everywhere at once.
The power issues are starting to get on my nerves as well, this time the UPS overheated and died during the day because it's 40C outdoors here and I guess it didn't like that, but still you don't get a UPS for more power failures, it's annoying as hell, the server runs far from just some games and all of that goes offline every time it happens. My entire personal infrastructure runs on it for one (email, calendar, kanban, filestorage, etc), and that of many of my friends, plus some virtual machines working on several projects.

Anyway, if you want updates, keep an eye on the twitter account, much easier for me to keep up to date with a phone app.

Any chance we can get announcements etc for when the servers down. I pulled a few moves to get online only to find out the servers location had a power cut. This steam group is a wasted opportunity. When I ran a server steam groups were great for organising all sort of stuff.

Just a suggestion, feel free to laugh in my face :P

Ya not sure what happened but when I looked to see what may have happened ti looked like some massive ship blew up on the a planet, debris everywhere. Anyhow I poked a. to have a look at the logs starting arout 1:00 GMT.

I have to say I'm impressed. On for a few hours and the SIM stayed at 1.0 for the most part. Some chaos happened at the end that brought it right down as ayphion went offline for the night, but overall excellent work!

Huzzah! I'll try to get on tonight

Just to let you all know Ant got the Space Engineers server up and running! He was shattered afterwards and went offline after it was breathing and living!

I have something working now, I'm going to try set it up on the server today, but I've been having some problems with the latest windows server update, somehow it stops recognizing my virtIO harddisk .. but it just booted again when I reduced it to two cores? I'm not sure what's up yet but I'll be working on it today as I have weekend. I do need to get some sleep at some point though because I literally just got out of my night shift :tshock:

It's all good dude, if it works better than it has done in previous years that'll be more than enough for most people. I have read reports of 40 odd ships flying in formation with a SIM speed of 1!
Ayphion 21 Jul, 2018 @ 1:46am
Looking forward to it!

I've been trying to create a new map (and selecting mods) but it seems that a lot of the mods I used are either broken or crippled to the point I need to run the server in 'experimental mode' in order to make them work due to them using functions that have been deprecated or changed, like for example how all shield and admin block mods seem to be dead right now due to them breaking damage nullification in mods...
I'll try get something up ASAP but I can't promise it'll have all the features that we used to have. I'm going to try get it up and running tonight, but if it turns out to be too much effort I'll continue tomorrow.

Oh lawdy I hear the new multiplayer update has dropped. Notice anything different on the server since then. I'm looking forward to dropping back in again :D

we already maintain the server :) delete old grids, clean up, restart regularly, etc, but unfortunately space engineers doesn't really like running more than a few weeks.
I've set up a new map the other day which should run much smoother, at least 100% speed right now, and I've set it so that you can only spawn 5k blocks per person, but even that's going to grind to a halt again in a few months I'm sure, KeenSWH needs to fix fundamental engine issues first before it can really run over the long term (i.e years) with a single map, especially things like the fact that the whole game leans most heavily on a single thread makes it impossible to just throw more hardware at it.
Another thing that might help is the fact that I'm migrating from Windows 10 to a proper Windows Server 2016 installation with a genuine license kindly donated by a friend, however that hasn't been rolled out yet, I expect to finish that within the next few days, or at least before my vacation ends this week.

Is there any chance that the space engineers server can be maintained to improve the sim speed. Love the community (hey Ayphion!) but the sim speed was diabolical (0.3-0.5) at best when i played.
