Wow so this is a thing, knew about them (steam groups) since before there were such things, was kinda pissed off that the whole physical rulebook and boxed set thing went away back in the day. Was first a PnP gamer still have enough AD&D 2nd Edition stuff to choke a horse. But my game of choice was cyberpunk 2027, with the additional rule set, and some shadowrun vehicles, and the armors compendium. Yea, friggin’ hardcopies. I’ve spent proly a couple of thougsand hours in virtual worlds, they only keep getting better. Never did see the need to pit myself against others, sometimes the worlds are hard enough. Ultima II on a Mac, dungeoneering over a teletype. I’ve always seen gaming as a personal experience, an exploration of the unknown. Waiting with concerned anticipation to CDPRs rendition of cyberpunk, the PnP development sure saw it’s world a turmoil, hope they don’t get too caught in the minutia.
