That's all folks

Today the hoster finally answered my e-mail and have cancelled the server with immediate effect. It seems it took them a few days (over a week!) to realise they didn't cancel the account when they were supposed to. Although they took a month's money for it, i should imagine they'll refund it soon.

Hope you all enjoyed the ride and enjoyed all the special moments as a community. Will never forget you all. Take care.

Signing off
Evil-Dragon

This is embrassing... ok well. In a nutshell, i've checked my bank and another payment for the server has come out from a reoccuring payment plan on Paypal. This means that i've paid for another month for the server. The plan on paypal is cancelled now so.. there you go. Server will probably end about the 26th July now. Oh well, enjoy for now.

The Final Day?

"And in the final moments we have left, I'd like to talk right down to Earth in a language that everybody here can easily understand."

I haven't been listening to too much Cult of Personality recently. So anyway, down to business. I'd just like to remind everyone that it is officially the 26th over in Britain, where the server is hosted. Today is officially the final day of the server. I have no idea at what time it will end, all I know is that I will miss every moment of it.

Well, seeing as it's still up as of June 30th, the server shows no signs of slowing down.

The end of an era

It is my sad duty to inform all patrons that the server will be closing with immediate effect. I've not come to this decision lightly, in fact it's due to my life changing dramatically and me and my partner are due to have a child together. This ultimately means that money and time are a luxuary that i no longer have at my disposal. I've also taken into consideration the change to the idling/drop system rules and feel that idle servers no longer have a place in the TF2 world.

The donation system was supposed to be a step in the right direction to take money out of the equation but also has failed to produce good enough results. Largely this is due to Valve breaking the parenting system for many of the donator features that made donating worth while. With Valve's stance on their protected content unlikely to change, this leaves a broken donation system with no future.

As with my word for the donators who donated money for features on my server, i will not cut and run away with your money. Please contact me via the e-mail address at the bottom of this annoucement for a refund of your donation. All monies will be sent back to the original e-mail address used intially and will be paid via Paypal.

I'd like to thank all the patrons who visited my server and made an excellent community during it's peak. Without you, none of this would have ever been possible. I'm proud to say i thought of you all equal (apart from the bastards who i needed to ban for ignoring the rules and blasting me)

Finally i'd like to give a big big big thank you to all my admins from start to finish. Noodleneck for being a really good friend, always spending time beyond the call of duty day and night. Roflwaffles for being a crazy son of a bitch and also being a great friend to me on the server, you made the server a great place. Finally Sapphire Dragon, thank you my dear for spending time with us and making a great community, although you only joined us recently you helped bring all the community and admins together to make it truly great.

As for myself, i'm sorry i wasn't here all that much and had to make this dreadful decision. As an adult with a partner, mortgage, work, friends and bills to pay it left me with little time or money to spend online. It is the way it needs to be and one day you will all know what i'm talking about.

Signing off but never truely gone
Evil-Dragon
Matthew Hill

E-mail Address: matthewhill@blueyonder.co.uk
SAVE CUSTOM WEAPONS AND HATS! SIGN THE PETITION!

In the 1.0.8.6 TF2 update, Valve put in a new policy that prevents server modifications from attaching entities to players and having the attached entity be visible.

This greatly limits creativity with server-side mods, a list of what this new policy breaks:

1. Custom, unofficial hats. Valve can't possibly add every single hat to TF2 and some servers have special unique hats. Essentially, all servers are barred from using anything as a hat.

2. Custom, unofficial and on-the-fly generated weapons that server modifications may issue to players. Custom weapons simply are not going to be drawn to other players (and possibly the owner itself)

3. Any future game play modification that may want to attach an entity to a player for a variety of reasons. PropHunt used this feature, valve explicitly added two new inputs to prevent PropHunt from being quite difficult to fix. My question to Valve is, would PropHunt ever came into existence if this policy on no attached entities been in effect the whole time?

Valve games have always been very mod friendly and this is one of the reasons for the longevity of their games, Valve has been one of the few game companies that are quite open with their games that allows these kinds of things to thrive. This new policy is an arbitrary limit on mod creativity.

This currently breaks:

TF2Items
TF2 Equipment Manager

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION BELOW TO HAVE PARENTING REINSTATED BY VALVE AND BRING BACK THE FUN TO OUR SERVER: https://secure.voogru.com/petition/index.php

Going backwards... Moving forward?

Good Afternoon everyone,

After the recent annoucement from Valve concerning idling and their new drop system, we have come to stage where it seems that idle servers no longer have a place in the TF2 gameplay world. Given the current numbers on the server, I feel we must now make a very important decision about where we go from here.

I'd rather not completely get rid of the server but remake it into something different. Now, this is where everyone comes into this, from regulars, donators and admins. I want everyone to post what they want this server to be. It can be anything you like, e.g. running CP/CTF/Arena rotation, 24/7 'Mapname here', insane weapons for everyone, instant teleporters, custom maps only, etc..

Please feel free to post what you would like. Donators will still keep accounts and will have special previledges over normal users but depending on what the server becomes we might have to make minor changes to your abilities.

Best Regards
Matthew (Evil-Dragon)

New features and donations

Good day everyone,

Thought it might be a good idea to inform you of some new changes that we have made to the server. I hope this will allow more fun for our regulars and give them access to the features that have until now been admin only.

Three days ago i turned on access to our donator features to anyone that donates £5 ($10) to me via Paypal. More information and details of what you get is available at http://www.evil-dragon.co.uk/premium/

So far i am extremely pleased at the uptake and the level of donations. Thank you all that have donated already for your support to the server and hope you are enjoying your new found powers and abilities!

We are still working to further refine the features and weapons available to you and will keep you posted on here and via the server.

I'd like to remind all donators that their donation will allow them access to the server for the life of the server and will be enabled on any further servers that we decide to buy and put in place.

Lastly, a reminder to those who continue to flaunt the rules in the server. You will be reminded and removed if you continue to disobey the rules stated in the MOTD. This goes for donators as well. No one gets to be above the rules, it's not fair to everyone else.

Enjoy!
Evil-Dragon and the rest of the Admin team.

Your business is appreciated.

A reminder to all members of this group and that use the server: Your financial help is required to keep this server alive. I'm currently at 51% for the donations for next months hosting. If you want to see the server next month then we'll all need to make it up to meet the $60 monthly goal.

I can no longer afford to keep paying to keep this server running anymore. In short, i need other people to pay for it in one way or another.

If you can help please send a donation via Paypal to evildragon@blueyonder.co.uk

Many thanks
Evil-Dragon

Important rules reminder & Sourcemod upgrade today

My patience is wearing thin as of late with people who use my server for achievements and idling. Bare in mind that the server is created equally for everyone who uses it and to keep things running fair and without incident i have created SIMPLE rules for everyone to follow. Now, those who use the excuse "Well, i didn't know we had rules" are either blind, never read any MOTD's or are fucking stupid.

For the benefit of those who are in the above, i will reaffirm the following rules:

* Help/Work together! Stay on RED for Idling and BLU for everything else!
* Please DO NOT ask for noclip, sv_cheats, etc.. or anything that may piss the admins off.
* No exploits/cheats/hacks. No admin impersonation allowed. No excessive shit micspam.
* Always just your common-sense and your brain on this server.
* All admin decisions are final. Failure to read these rules deserves a slap.

Continually abuse these rules above and create more work for the admins will result in your removal from the server, banning for any length of time at the admin's disgression.

Please be aware that i have asked my hoster to upgrade Sourcemod today. This means there will be a short period of downtime on the server while this is done.

Many thanks and good day
Evil-Dragon
