hi, was having this issue on two pirated copies of elden ring, as well as one purchased on steam. tried all of the fixes listed without success, so i started fiddling around. during one restart i went into the bios, turned off xmp and game mode (probably not on all mobos but check for it if you have one from MSI), and performed a SSD scan. while it's unlikely the scan did much, the game finally booted after that. double check for those 2 things in your bios and turn them off.

for reference my specs are RTX 3080 10G, R7 5800X, 32GB RAM, MSI GAMING PLUS MAX mobo.

Sadly the Dx11 trick doesn't work for me. I"ll be sure ti put it down though in case it works for anyone else!

According to the creator of this fix, the problem with my graphics card was actually the fact that it doesn't have directX12 feature_level 12_0 (GTX950M).

However to use this fix you still need a graphics card that support directX12 feature_level 11_0 I think.

I might try it next month on my old laptop with 16GB ram and 940MX 2GB so my refund request is valid if the fix does not work.

I tried all of the attached fixes and they didnt work. This did though!

I wanted to make the point that fully updating Windows in the menus of the OS isn't always sufficient as it'll say fully updated when it actually isn't.

@Goblin creature Said fix is thankfully already in the main thread, sadly updating Windows 10 or 11 has not really helped a lot of people.

Make sure you do everything you can to update your Windows 10 to at least version 20H2 guys. I reinstalled Windows the other day to try and make this work but it didn't work. I installed all the updates it let me and as far as my Windows OS was concerned, I was fully up to date. Then today it randomly downloaded the update for Windows 10 Version 20H2. Now Elden Ring is working for me. I'd done absolutely everything suggested and had basically given up hope. TLDR: Windows update is absolute trash, do whatever you can to make it update to the very latest version.

hey so recently i had the problem and found a fix. i believe it was tied to the anti cheat but there is a common pc cleaning tool that trips the anti cheat called ccleaner. i would suggest adding it to the list of fixes.

Thanks for compiling list of fixes. I already tried almost all of em before refunding (bar the reinstalling windows and the dll because I don't think the risk and cost of doing that worth is worth it just for a game) but looking forward to see whether someone will make definitive fix for this

it is pretty distressing tbh, it doesn't help either that a lot of people are just dismissing anyone who has this issue as "having something wrong on their end" ala inferior rigs or users doing things incorrectly when that very much isn't the case 95% of the time.

it's a massive issue on the developer's side and no matter how good the game is this kind of thing needs to be brought up to them instead of being silenced out by people who go outta their way to invalidate it

honestly really disappointed theres not a word abt this yet. waited for 1.02 but that didnt fix it either and nothings been working :'D
