Mercenary Guild and Missions (Preview)

In case you haven't checked out the site in a while, we're currently piloting a new system that's been designed to encourage community interaction and help you work through your backlog!

The general idea is that you join the Mercenary Guild (by simply checking a box on your Account page) and then you can assign or be assigned missions (i.e. games) for you or someone in the community to play.

You can track your progress by entering time for your playthrough, as well as enter small messages to tell the community how things are going. When you're done, you enter a completion time and the mission is complete!

Bounty System + Future Points System!

Hey everyone, in case you missed the discussion on the forums, we now have a bounty system in place on http://www.completionator.com/.

Before I go any further, I would encourage you to check out the thread where this idea is discussed, which also includes an outline of some upcoming features for it: http://www.completionator.com/Forum/PostList/2182?page=1

The idea for bounties is to provide a unique and hopefully fun way of playing games in your backlog. On the home page, you should see a "Current Bounties" section that displays the games that currently have a bounty on them. If you click on one of these games, you will see a page where you can accept the bounty, which means you intend to play it and enter a completion time when you're finished. The system will automatically create a playthrough for you so you can track your time, or you can just use the in-game timer (if one is available) or your playtime on Steam.

There's no penalty for NOT completing a bounty once you've accepted it, so don't worry if you aren't able to complete it before it expires.

The system that's in place right now is a PILOT and therefore does not contain all the functionality that will eventually be added. I'm just looking for feedback on the core idea / functionality and then I'll start building around it.

Ultimately, you're going to earn "points" for completing bounties, as well as doing other things on the site, like rating games, entering a difficulty, etc. These points will be cosmetic only and will not be used in a competitive manner or used for rewards.

Okay, so what is the point of all of this? There are two main goals with the bounties and points systems. The first is to encourage community engagement. We want everyone to visit the site and have fun playing their games. So having bounties / points gives you (optional) goals for playing your games and gives you an opportunity to talk with other community members who are playing the same games as you are.

The other main goal is to promote other site features, such as completion times, so we can have more data, which benefits everyone in the community!

Let me know if you have any feedback on any of this and I hope you'll give it a shot! And if you have any games you feel should be up for a bounty, post it on the forums!
