But they weren't united. When I say "just there" it means they weren't a country but an ethnic group. The seminole was made of a bunch of independent tribes each about as powerful as a town.

What about the Seminole? They were considered one of the 5 civilized tribes and they ended up fighting back against Andrew Jackson when he tried to remove them. The tribes were important parts of American History, they weren't just really "there".

The Cherokee are just sort of there though. They aren't exactly wholly united which is what brought them down in the long run.

Yet, the Cherokee was the most dominant power in their area during this time. Without them, Europeans probably wouldn't have lived in the mountains until way later than when they actually did.

Tribes don't actually exert influence through a state structure on their territory like the overwhelming majority of asian and european nations od at this time. I may add it later.
