You might not be able to use the curator but a discussion thread, sure. & that sounds like a fluster cluck, seriously
Stovetopfire 7 Jan @ 11:00am
I don't think there's a way to do curator reviews for workshop content. I'd love to do one for the Terraria Calamity mod. Not sure if you know it, but that whole thing is a nightmare.

"Fabsol" made the Calamity mod. It was great until he decided to ruin everything. Nerfing almost all fun items, making every boss have infinite health, making you one-tap to everything, etc. All because he "felt like it" (a real quote). This is the same guy who said "if you use other mods while playing mine, you should k*** yourself". I could go on for hours. Everyone wanted him gone. Eventually, he actually left. We were excited until we looked into it. He was "confronted by everyone on his team and forced to leave because of his transphobic comments affecting the 'trans calamity' community". It didn't take even a day after that for hundreds of things to be removed from the mod, including donator items, because "they are associated with transphobic and problematic people".

It can always get worse.
I hear ya though, money, time, or even adding to their stats as a positive outside of leaving a negative review? I'll either gray list it or black list it, some of it though ill say makes me sick to my stomach, if you've seen some of the stuff in CK tweets detected....

I gotta ask though, are you gonna include modded (mod) game's & workshop items though...?
I mostly agree with the mindset, I feel similarly, some game's j won't buy because they're on my gray list but I won't mind checking them out or playing them if gifted, I may still leave a negative review regardless though depending on the reason why it was gray listed, whatever gets blacklisted for me, I ignore/refuse to even think about buying or touching the game, one infamous example for me is Mass Effect Legendary Edition, so many things done wrong, I would've loved to have played it, but my biggest 2 reasons to blacklist it were mainly/primarily ME2 Overlord DLC & how it was handled, even worse than the original the first time & how removing the multiplayer from ME3 essentially cut the game's "endgame assets" off at the knees with no replacement, Cp 2077 i have gray listed, id love to play, but given several things, I won't buy it.

I appreciate it, thank you. I'll let you know if I go for anything of the sort.

Remember, just because a game has horrible developers or "woke" stuff in the game, doesn't mean *you* have to avoid it. For me personally, it's morality and money. I can't bring myself to play or continue playing any of these games, knowing I would be directly supporting the people behind them. Whether that's financially and/or statistically. That all being said, that doesn't mean you have to adhere to my line of thinking with this stuff. Though I seem to see more and more people pushing against this stuff every day, and agreeing with my type of mindset. Don't get me wrong, it still disappoints me and even makes me sad sometimes.

But, as I said, morality and money.

Vote with your wallet.
If you do discussion threads, you'll have to be careful though I'm sure you know that, & this is probably gonna be random of a mention but I'd say I would've offered my help in making a discord server a few years back, before discord kinda went downhill a bit, I'd still help now, but I wouldn't be as confident if it was ever made with the intent to be easily searchable (public, like what they do to for the big companies & game's like helldivers), I merely say this as I used to make servers for alot of groups & stuff when I was more socially active & discord wasn't as concerning regarding how they dealt with matters a few years back as they are now. Still, it's something I'm willing to help setup if its ever needed. Anyway thanks for the scoop on Abiotic factor, utterly disappointed about it, don't even feel like trying it out on my xbox anymore.

I completely understand what you're saying and I agree. There have been a lot of times where it's the "Community Manager" that is a complete POS, and (rarely) everyone else is innocent. A good example would be Ultrakill I suppose. I haven't found anything bad surrounding the game in terms of developers and I've thoroughly enjoyed playing Ultrakill. Though that doesn't mean things won't be bad through proper research. It does concern me that they haven't included their Bluesky on Steam. Call of Duty, though negative, would be another example. They have links for a ton of platforms on their Steam page. Bluesky is included for them, but we already know CoD is an absolute nightmare in terms of leadership, development and most of the people involved. Also, I might try my hand in making a website. Though I don't really know what I'd be doing. Other than that, different discussion threads could be a good idea.
You could do a discussion thread for each one that you can't cover in the curator as an idea? I also wanna say aside from that, is it possible that both publishers & developers may have someone dedicated for public relations (PR) & community relations & there's a potential disconnect there? I mean, I don't believe it to be true for most, but ive seen some game's being advertised on both X & bluesky & literally everything they can advertise on, but I figured I'd ask for your thoughts on it?
Stovetopfire 4 Jan @ 1:22am
Steam Curator only allows 200 characters for typing up reviews, so I don't have enough room to type everything I'd like for these. I list the companies involved with the game in question for all of the reviews, especially in case some of them are hidden. In many cases, Sweet Baby Inc/SBI. In this instance, it seems all parties involved are present.

But yes, very sad.

(Astroneer hurt for me as well, I enjoyed it a lot back when I was on Xbox. It would've been nice to come back to it after such a long time, but alas.)

I was surprised too. I was probably going to buy the game, it looked interesting. Abiotic Factor even had a collab with one of my favourite games, Core Keeper (Highly Recommend). Scrolling down their steam page and seeing the bluesky link raised a massive red flag on the other hand, and of course, there was something awful behind it as always.

Deep Field Games is owned by the lead developer in question, Geoff "Zag" Keene. Almost 100% of the time with political garbage in video games, the views of nearly everyone else involved follow the views of the idiot in charge.

Playstack is the publisher, who also published Balatro, which is concerning. For stuff like this, the publisher is usually always indifferent or fully accepting of the horrible people they publish for. Though not every single time, obviously. Square Enix is a good example, cranking out a constant stream of sludge.
Okay, im surprised about abiotic, but im curious about deep field games & Playstack though?

I'm honestly a little surprised about astroneer but with the information provided & the uncertainty around how the game has been, I finally know now to unwishlist it instead of wondering about doing so, thanks :)

I'm glad I could help bring a smile to your face, I'll include this in the list of groups to refer both friends & people i know to & hopefully help out that way as well, we need groups like this if we wanna see a better world.
Stovetopfire 21 Oct, 2025 @ 10:36am
I'm happy to help, it's one of the main reasons I made this whole thing after all. Thank *you* very kindly for joining! It honestly put a smile on my face seeing a non-bot stranger joining my group. It's a step of progress towards bringing this into the light for more people to see, it means a lot, and certainly more than you might think. :reheart:

Posted it as a discussion here should it be of help

If you wanna use what I said should someone own one of these games from the Kirk group, the best reference i could give is the Warhammer/games workshop discussion & recent ones too

I can understand that & this definitely helps a ton, thank you very kindly & for this group :)

Steam wouldn't let me fit it all into one message, here's the rest:

I wasn't able to find anything for another one of the 5 people "Mathias Schifter" (they/them, rainbow in bio), but I feel like that might sum it up. I provided socials if you'd like to look into it more yourself.

(m_schifter) on X/Twitter
(@m-schifter.bsky.social) on Bluesky

(crinklecutgames.com) is the game site

Steam's curator/groups are bugged right now so I'm unable to update any of my reviews or make any new ones. I'll be right back to work as soon as this is resolved. Been a week so far...
Stovetopfire 21 Oct, 2025 @ 10:11am
I hadn't looked too deeply into it, only surface level stuff that made me recommend against it. I looked into it a bit more for you and I'll be updating my review. Here's what I found in about 30 minutes:

For the game itself:
- The "intersex inclusive progress pride flag" is an option to cover the entire store's walls
- DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)
- Horrible writing according to many players

One out of 5 people involved "Ian Stewart" (he/him, pride flag in bio):

(@EeStew) on X/Twitter
(@eestew.bsky.social) on Bluesky

- Whines about how "anti-DEI" groups on steam are evil "harassment zones" for people who "hate progress"
- Claims that Trump is an evil orange man that should be killed
- Claims that he is "Woke and Gay"
- Quoting him: "transphobes eat ♥♥♥♥ and ♥♥♥♥ off, you're disgusting freaks obsessed with other peoples genitals, truly sick and weird antisocial people, the lowest of the low"
- Advocates for "trans lesbians in video games" whatever that means

If i may ask, I looked at the description & read it all but still don't understand why discounty isn't recommend, & I'm going to claim being clueless/severely uninformed on this, so if someone could please explain it to me?

(I'm not interested in the game nor do I have/use bluesky, so I'm more asking just to understand the not recommended.)
