Just to make sure everyone knows, our episode this week will be dealyed a little. Lorin just moved and doesnt have internet.

Pregnancy - A short interactive story where you are a voice inside the head of a pregnant 14 year old girl. The story is short but tells an emotional journey where you can help influence or guide Lilla's decisions. It can be hard being confronted with your own biases especially when you try to force an outcome on somebody else. A worthwhile experience that also gives a comparison between your choices and other players' at the end

The Bridge - With heavy inspiration from Escher drawings this puzzle game has a look that will delight, but it ultimately frustrates due to the difficulty ramping up quickly after the early levels. Without the Steam forums and Youtube I would have given up on this a lot earlier than I did. I completed the main story but gave up doing the mirror levels and achievement hunting

Hook - Completed in 51 minutes and costing 79p this little puzzle game values your time and money more than some big Hollywood films. The goal is to remove each hook using switches and junctions without getting them snagged on another hook. For the price of a chocolate bar the game and creator are worth supporting

Loving the new mini episodes every other week! You guys really brighten up my week every week now :)

VVVVVV - This game just makes me grin from ear to ear. It's a reto platformer that harks back to Jet Set Willy days with a similar aesthetic, but faster paced. Go through each level to find your lost crew and piece together what happened to your spaceship. The action is punishing, but with immediate restart and good checkpoints it keeps you coming back for more

Evoland - A lovely little tribute to all of the RPGs that have been made over the last 2 decades. The game follows a fairly linear narrative, but it is the changes in art style that make the game. Worth your time, and the sequel is shaping up nicely
SaintlyStu 16 Jun, 2015 @ 1:28pm
Puzzle Agent / Puzzle Agent 2 - 2 very good little puzzle games with a frankly bonkers storyline running over both games. The puzzles range from easy to challenging, but a good hint system means you shouldn't have to refer to a walkthrough. Recommended if you like puzzle/logic games
SaintlyStu 16 Jun, 2015 @ 1:24pm
One Finger Death Punch - A very simple premise: one button is punch left, one button is punch right, and the aim is to clear the waves of enemies on each stage. It is a good game but suffers from having too many stages. I have put in 5+hrs and I have still not completed the initial world map, but I have seen all there is to see (barring some abilities). Nice to play in bursts, but a chore to make progress in.
SaintlyStu 12 Jun, 2015 @ 2:21pm
0RBITALIS done - Really nice space physics based puzzle game where the goal is to launch a satellite that stays in orbit for a determined amount of time. Different levels have different celestial bodies whose gravity will affect your trajectory. Leaderboards for each level and a daily challenge keep players trying to improve their times. Recommended as something a bit different
SaintlyStu 27 May, 2015 @ 3:01pm
140 done - A rhythm based side scrolling platformer with solid mechanics and an art style that harks back to Spectrum 48k days. The good check point system keeps frustration at bay, but still makes it challenging. A little short with only 3 levels. New game + adds mirrored levels and removes checkpoints, but that's only for completionists/masochists.

Big fan of the podcast. Sorry to hear Red Faction G and AWL got bad reception. I sent an email your way about it.
SaintlyStu 26 Apr, 2015 @ 1:22pm
A Good Snowman is Hard to Build done - A really well crafted little puzzle game which is difficult enough, but not frustratingly so
SaintlyStu 18 Apr, 2015 @ 3:48pm
Deadlight done - Finally got round to getting all but one of the achievements. A well crafted 2D game that is reminiscent of the original Prince of Persia with a better story. Worth playing to complete, but not necessarily 100% achievements
SaintlyStu 18 Apr, 2015 @ 3:44pm
Tiny Bang Story done - A nice little hidden object/puzzle game with a quaint art style. Total play time was about 4 hours which was just right for the game

I for one can remember pretty much every game I have played and beatned so when we use the random steam game tool if it is one I have beated I just tell it to look again. I will have to look at Steam Completionist. :p2wheatley:

Just noticed that the link in that last post got removed. It was the link to Steam Completionist

Hi. I've finally got round to joining the group after listening to episode 5 of the podcast. I have a fair backlog of Steam games myself, and for previous episodes I have played at least one of the games discussed. Usually I have at least one or two of the other games discussed, but having not played them it is good to hear overall impressions of games without being too spoilery.

I'm curious as to how you manage your Steam games list, eg. by using categories, and if you have ever used www.steamcompletionist.net?
Yabadabajew 19 Mar, 2015 @ 1:26pm
Oh, plenty. I rediscovered Darksiders, tried out Shatter, Dustforce, Card City Nights, and some others that I plan on trying out soon because of the podcast. I just love your in-depth discussions of every game that you three try out!
Vahn Blackburn 19 Mar, 2015 @ 10:07am
Thank you very much I am glad to hear you are enjoying the podcast! Have you gone back and tried any of the games we have played?
Yabadabajew 18 Mar, 2015 @ 7:47pm
I love your podcast! As someone with a gigantic Steam backlog myself, Year of Steam is so enjoyable and refreshing to listen to. I rediscover games that I tried out once but never came back to, and realize that I own some games discussed on the podcast that I completely forgot about in the past, buried in my backlog. Your game discussion is so entertaining, and it makes me happy to see a new episode whenever they come out. Please keep the Year of Steam train going!!
