Watch Dogs lead leaves Ubisoft, joins EA!

Jamie Keen exits Ubisoft Montreal, joins Need For Speed team EA Gothenburg.

Watch Dogs' lead game designer Jamie Keen has left Ubisoft and joined EA, his online CV has revealed.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Keen, who also acted as lead game designer on last year's Far Cry 3, left Ubisoft Montreal in February to join EA Gothenburg as a gameplay producer.

Keen presumably joins Gothenburg (aka Ghost Games) to work on the studio's unannounced Need For Speed title, which is expected to use EA's Frostbite 2 engine and be in development for next-generation consoles.

Criterion is also reported to be working with Gothenburg on the project.

There's some confusion over the exact dates as to when Keen departed Ubisoft. His CV states that he left during February 2012. However, he was still working on Far Cry 3 until late 2012, suggesting that he may have actually left during February 2013.

It isn't yet known how Keen's departure will affect development on Watch Dogs, which is due to release on current and next-generation consoles and PC later this year.

A Ubisoft representative told VideoGamer.com that it was "not able to comment" on Keen's departure.

'Publish Date 05/03/2013 By David Scammell'
http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/watch_dogs/news/watch_dogs_lead_leaves_ubisoft_joins_ea.html

Watch Dogs Twitter channel confirms 2013 launch for hi-tech assassin game.

Watch Dogs will release in 2013, Ubisoft has confirmed.

The publisher tweeted the news via the game's official Twitter channel earlier this week.

Up until now, Ubisoft had been fairly vague on the subject of a release date, saying that the the game will "not [be] shipping this year for sure".

Watch Dogs was announced during Ubisoft's E3 press conference earlier this week.

According to our spies on the ground, the game has already been nominated for multiple 'Best Game of E3' awards.

"Publish Date 08/06/2012 By: David Scammell"
http://www.videogamer.com/ps3/watch_dogs/news/watch_dogs_gets_official_2013_release_date.html

Ubisoft's CEO Confirms That PC Is The Lead Platform For Watch Dogs

Well, we all saw that coming, right? Still, it’s good to have an official confirmation about the lead platform of Watch Dogs. In an interview with InsideGamer, Ubisoft’s CEO confirmed that the PC is the lead platform for Watch Dogs and all other platforms will be getting a port from it. Yeap, this is the exact opposite of what is currently happening, so this is at least good news for all PC gamers. Why you ask? But because the game will – most probably – be better optimized on the PC.

As Ubisoft’s CEO told InsideGamer:

“We expect fewer problems with porting games to the PS4 than the PS3, which had a completely different infrastructure. Previously, we developed games first on the Xbox 360 and then translated them onto the PS3. It took a lot of time and money to port. Now we develop first on the PC and port to all other consoles.”

In addition, Ubisoft’s CEO confirmed that the PC version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier suffered from problems and was not ported ideally. As Yves Guillemot said, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier had a lot of problems and the PC version could be better managed.

Let’s hope that Ubisoft has learned from its mistakes!

"Posted on February 27, 2013 by John Papadopoulos"
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/ubisofts-ceo-confirms-that-pc-is-the-lead-platform-for-watch-dogs/
