What the title says essentially.

If you are reading this, you are either already a member of this group because you wanted to abuse tester privlidges, or you are snooping around because you are looking for a way to abuse tester privlidges.

Since the workshop is now live for everyone, you would think this group no longer serves any purpose, however I've left in the bit of code that unlocks designer debugging for members of this group.

It will probably last until I find a better solution.

Also in the future if I release more mod tools I'm likely to release them here first.

As you all know, the patch with workshop integration went out, and I want to thank you all for coming over and helping to test, for now I will keep everybody in the group, you will all have access to the debug mode ship editor where you will see every module in the game, implemented, outdated or not.

If you would like to leave, feel free to, there's no obligation to stay.

There may be at some point in the future where we may need testing again, but for now, there may not be any much activity in this group.

If you have any issues or things to report about the game, it would now be best to put them in the main forum so all can see and advise/support comment etc.

This tool allows you to load custom ship hulls into the game and generate the needed layers for them. (Bot,Bump,Spec,etc)

The mod tool was created by Jan. Go give him praise.

A sample ship is included to see examples of the various layers and images you can feed into the tool.

To work the mod tool, you need an image of the ship you want to make.
Load that into the Diffuse box.

If you have a Height map, click generate from height, if you dont know what a height map is, or dont have one, click generate from diffuse.
For Roughness, select Generate from normal.

You should see the ship take on a somewhat weird overly bumpy shape, tweak the silders on the left until you get something that looks nice to you.


Large, Medium and Small details represent how strong these details are translated into the Normal(bump) map.

Bilateral Bias smoothens out all the roughness that you see.
Bilateral Strength controls how much detail is allowed overall.


Emission is essentially a layer for all your lighting effects.
It needs to be a PNG of the same dimentions of the ship image, and be all black, with the lights on top of it.


Roughness determines the reflectiveness of the ship. the higher/brighter the roughness value is, the rougher and less reflecive the ship is.
Contrast determines the difference of roughness between the most rough and the most reflective surface, higher is greater difference, usually leading to shiny edges and rough flat surfaces.

Clamp restricts the roughness to either be less than a certain roughness, or more than a certain roughness, can be thought of as high or low passes.

With the upload of 0.6.1.00 to steam, members of this group can officially upload to the workshop via Zero Falls launched through steam.
