The Complete Story:

Left 4 Dead 2 is censored in Australia, because of one man. Michael Atkinson. To (Ultimately) get L4D2 uncensored in Australia, All the states (Read: State representitives) need to agree we need an R18+ rating. Every state has agreed EXCEPT SA (Michael Atkinson). Because the vote needs to be unanimous, The maximum rating is still MA15+. No R18+ = No Left 4 dead 2.



Note: Michael Atkinson is not only religious, but has been campaining against video games for quite a while.

R18+ Classification for Computer Games.Guys we REALLY ALL need to get on the bandwagon here. I quote:

"The Commonwealth Government has released a discussion paper which briefly summarises the key arguments for and against an R 18+ classification for computer games. Censorship Ministers have considered the issue of an adult classification for computer games on several occasions. However, they have not undertaken public consultation on this issue."

In a nutshell, we basically have to fill out the submission template and e-mail/mail/fax it through to the given address and hope that we get an R18+ rating here.

I cannot believe this banning a game is just stupid so what if it shows strong violence if anything it would let some people let our there anger ect. and i dont understand why we cant see head falling off and other things like that!

I was unaware of this censorship conundrum and am stuck with the censored version until Steam get back to me. I feel completely cheated, I only got a chance to watch some of the gameplay videos and the official trailer and now I'm stuck with half a game with no blood, no gore and no atmosphere at all.
I want change, what happened to a liberalist view of the world being encompassed in a Western perspective? I know this is really only a small problem compared to the inequities encountered everyday for some in our country, but every small battle won is one win closer to equilibrium.

ah finally i have l4d2 bought 4 pack from england, i love family.

It is possible to get an uncensored version without gifting. You need to go in to your steam account and turn off country display, then open firefox and go to the steam UK site. then buy it from there, and when it asks what country you are in for the payment you just say the UK. Then your receipt wont say Preorder AU but instead it will just say Preorder. If you have already preordered the censored version it is possible to get a refund through steam support but it must be done before the release date.

Valve is going to do a DLC with all the gore back in for us. I have read it come out a week or two after the domo come out.... or the game..... forgot what one ^_^

so we just need to play with no gore for a bit till it comes, then its gore time!
