Complete Shogun 2 & ROTS unit stat spreadsheet

Tired of having to go back and forth between encyclopaedia pages to compare the stats of various units? This documents give a full listing of all Shogun 2 unit stats, for army and navy units, from the original game and all three expansions. It also lists special abilities, buildings and tech requirements, and so on.

The guide is up-to-date as of 23/10/2011, but (as yet) for single-player only.

Old games, new fixes.

Many of us have to accept the fact that the original Shogun: Total War just isn't playable for us. The newer generation nvidia cards all seem to throw fits when it comes time to fight a battle, and for some people, cause nothing but headaches and frustrations. Various work arounds and fixes have cropped up over the years, and now another looks particularly promising.

If you're absolutely dying to get a chance to play the original Shogun and are plagued by problems, take a look at the following thread:

The Return of XIDX: Now in Medieval 2 flavor!

Look, i'm no modder, in fact I probably couldnt change a thing about TW even if i wanted. But even I know big news in the mod scene when i hear it. XIDX is a tool that was used largely in the modification of RTW and was quite celebrated. Now it works, with a number of new bugfixes, with Medieval 2.

To avoid trying to sound smarter than I really am (and failing), I will just let Tellos Athenaios of the Europa Barbarorum team explain it to you in his own words at the following thread.

Napoleon: Total DLC?

Well here's something interesting. Shireknight posted up on the Org this morning that CA is running a poll on the .com. The purpose? To determine if people want all those fancy units for NTW that were "retail specific" as a general DLC. Whether the DLC pack they eventually decide on will cost you money isn't addressed, however, this could still be a good thing.

Why a good thing? Because if such an effort proves worthwhile that means CA may adopt a similiar attitude in the future with future games. Could this mean a Total War world free of retail specific DLC? Who knows! But I find it insanely interesting none the less.

The Org Pre-Battle Speech Contest

Men! I could bore you with a long, rousing speech, but that would just cut into our killing time. So, if you are ready, let's attack now and save the speeches for the campfire tonight! They'll sound much better with lots of sake anyway. - Gregoshi

We all love a rousing speech. Getting riled up by inspirational words, a few arrogant quips or the almost tangible description of the spoils.
Here is your chance, be the general in those last few calm moments before the battle. Fill the men's hearts with duty, their heads with greed, and their eyes with hate for the enemy. Proclaim them invincible for they'll only recognize the lies when it's far to late.

The Rules:
- Everybody, from Junior Members to Org staff, can submit one speech and one speech only. Further editing isn't possible once the speech is submitted. All submissions must be original and unpublished.
- The speech mustn't be more than 150 words and must be set in the sengoku jidai (Shogun 2 period).
- The standard Org rules regarding language apply for the contest.
- The submission period will run from now until September 11th, 00h00 GMT+1. To submit your entry, PM your story to Peasant Phill. From that time on all speeches will be anonymous. Please, do not tell others your submission; violating this rule results in immediate exclusion from the contest.
- Spelling mistakes or grammatical errors will not be taken into account. It's the spirit of the speech that counts and what it conveys to the audience.
- A panel of staff members will make a broad selection of the submitted speeches and the final vote will be up to the entire Org. Panel members aren't allowed to enter a submission.

The winner gets a unique badge, displayed beneath their forum avatar and perhaps a following of a few worshipers
There will be plenty of honorable mentions for members who wrote something ... surprising.

And remember, it's only a few lines. Have fun with it.
