I recently just rewatched the first season of the Flash with my girlfriend and comparing it to current seasons I've noticed a stark difference. The overall storytelling of the show was a lot different though still sharing common tropes of all CW superhero shows. The first season of the Flash focused heavily on Barry's story and him becoming a better man and a hero throughout the season. What I find interesting is that even though it's focused on him he's not the one who saves the day. When you really think about it was always someone else who solved the problem wether it was Joe's inspiring talks, or Well's instructions even to Eddie's sacrifice. That's essential to show as Barry is just beginning his journey on being the main hero of the show. The biggest and best moments of the season for me were any scene with Barry and his father and any scene showing secrets or moments with the Reverse Flash. It's extremely interesting rewatching from the beginning already knowing that Well's is the Reverse Flash and dissecting every single word he says as there's definitely slight nods and references you wouldn't pickup the first time. When it comes to later seasons of the Flash I wish they would have stayed more on Barry's story as I felt in some later seasons he was the side story to other side characters and it took away from the overall experience of the show. I understand that some people were annoyed with having speedsters as the main villain of each season those villains were always the more interesting ones to me by miles. I also really love to see the other side characters from the very beginning of the show. In season one I found Iris to be charming, sweet, and you want Barry and her to be together so bad, but just like Arrow with Felicity once it happens it's not good. Iris was perfectly done in my mind within the first two seasons more specifically season one but anything after that she becomes so annoying and pushy and next thing you know she's leading team Flash with no experience. Later seasons I absolutely can't stand her. Cisco is usually a high point through most seasons but they ruin him later on by having him hate Barry and take away his own powers for some reason. I never was a big fan of Killer Frost ever and I'm glad that part of her character doesn't get involved yet. To me the first season of this show is without a doubt it's best with consistently great episodes and story moments that stick with you after, I just wish the show could get back on track to it's better days and remember what elements made the show become as popular as it was, because I remember the days when everyone couldn't stop talking about this show, and now I forget it's still going, either way let me know your thoughts on the first season of the show and where it's gone since then. The new trailer has dropped for the upcoming season of the Flash, I'm actually very curious to know what you guys think on the current state of the show, for me personally I've lost a lot of willpower to finish the show as I feel it's strayed so far away from what made the show so great in the first place, and now it comes off as predictable and cringey, Arrow went down the path of a bad season with season 4 but managed to pick itself back up for 5 and then mellow out a bit, for me these last few seasons of the Flash have been getting worse and worse, and I hope something gets it back on track, but that's just my opinion I'd find it interesting to know anyone else's thoughts on it

So sorry this is late but I've had a lot going on, I'll do a quick review of what I thought for the episodes and such. For starters I really think that Episode 1 was a complete mess, so much going on with little explained very well, everything was jumping all over the place and the Death of Oliver was very POORLY done and if anything just took a lot of the momentum from whatever is going to happen in his episode, as we now know that there's no way he's going to die, really ruined the big build to it in my opinion. Not to mention after he died it seemed like no one really cared and they moved on fast, literally everyone except for Barry. There was a lot of Supergirl stuff going on that I don't understand and really didn't care for. Once we got to episode 2 however things got really better. For starters everything with Kevin Conroy was perfection, I didn't expect for them to take that twist on his character and make him an evil batman, but since this was his first live action Batman performance he gave it his everything and stole every scene he was in, though his death was pretty stupid he basically just fell on something electrical and nothing more than that, there was a lot of drama between Batgirl and Supergirl and it wasn't as bad as I expected Ruby Rose acted better than she has in anything that I've seen from her show and it still wasn't great but the tension between the characters worked and was done pretty decently. The Superman stuff was interesting as well as Brandon Ruth to me does a perfect Clark Kent, and Superman, he looks the part and fits in it so well. I find Lex Luthor to be funny because I'm so used to seeing him on Two and a Half Men, and I can see he really wants to do something else and he's giving it his all and not doing too bad either. The Smallville segment was honestly pointless but I understand why it was in there just to make a call back on the show. On to episode 3 which was by FAR the best of the series so far. My favorite moment of the Crisis has been when John Constantine meets Lucifer, the chemistry those actors showed told so much in the span of minutes as you know they've meet plenty of times before. I hope that someone out there gives them a dual show together it'd be pure magic(no pun intended). Everything with Oliver was strange as I said before they really ruined a lot of the tension leading up to his episode and considering it'll be the ending of my favorite show I really hope they deliver. Either way we got Jonah Hex again which is always nice and great moment where out of everyone John Diggle is the one to talk him back to reality which is what it should be. Now what was really clear was that this was a Flash episode and a lot of Flash things happened and all of which I found were amazing in fact the first time I saw this episode I actually cried at the Barry and Iris scene, I didn't expect it to get me at all but it did and I respect it for that. While the Arrow episode has a lot of pressure as it's its last the Flash episode also had a lot of pressure as they've been leading up to this sense season 1 and I honestly feel that they delivered and it all felt meaningful it all felt impactful, just a really good episode. sorry if I glossed over a lot there's just so much in all of these episodes, though my biggest prediction is that John Diggle will become Green Lantern next episode, if you've seen that Green jacket he's been wearing on Arrow and now that his wife is gone they have to pull the trigger, either way please let me know what you thought on the crossover so far, I really wish those bastards didn't make us wait but no big surprise there. I'm gonna be entirely honest, I thought this second episode was amazing, and it's the only reason I'm doing another review was because I enjoyed it so much and I didn't want the last post on this page for awhile to be negative. I still stand by my first post but this episode did a few things to make things I didn't like so much interesting. For example the main Villain, I like how he's studying the strange metapowers and it ended with a cliff hanger that I was actually interested by, I really wanted to see where it went next, though I still think he's a dumbass for going to buy black market super guns and being stupid enough to do it alone easily looking like he can be taken advantage of because he's out of his element clearly, and I like how that was shown by the dealer, he could tell he could take advantage of him and tried. The main thing I enjoyed in this episode was the set up for Infinite Crisis as it was super compelling and clearly devastating, I really want to see where it goes next and I'll find out soon when I watch the next episode. I like how Barry originally thinks that he can find a way to change his fate but he sees the future and he knows that if it comes down to it he has to die, and I respect that. That's a real hero right there. I could speak more on that but I'll keep it short and get to Joe and his wife (I forget how to spell her name and I don't care enough to check again lmao), but I really like the story told there and I like how the tense between the two of them was really good and depending on the kind of person you are you could have sided with one or the other, everything else that wasn't mentioned all was great with the exception of Killer Frost learning how to "express herself" and more book of Ralph stuff that I didn't really find funny though every once in awhile he has a decent joke, I'm just not too interested in Killer Frost sorry if you are, I find this choice really odd that the first episode was so mediocre to me at least and then be followed up by a really good episode, either way I really hope that they can keep this up, the writing improved, the acting was better, and I felt a real weight to the Crisis on Infinite Earths and that's something that makes a big difference, I like it and hope the show continues on this path, but with time we will see, let me know what you thought if you'd like to share, and I'll be back in a Flash

I was not impressed by this premiere in the slightest, this had plenty of negatives to me, and I will say that I'll be doing a Mid-Season review and a Crisis on Infinite Earths review as well for the corresponding shows to the corresponding groups and an overall season review, so I'm going straight into it, For starters I like the new suit I'm very satisfied with that, now that's probably the only positive I have for this episode, my main problem is is that the show has extremely bad character motivation for anything and extremely poor writing, not to mention the stereotypical boring villain who I couldn't give a single ♥♥♥♥ about.
Right off the bat, during the family barbecue Iris asks Joe if he cleaned out the garage and then he says yes and she dips, first off you're seriously telling me that Joe would be so reckless to throw away Nora's past items without even caring, second Iris asked if he threw it away and she leaves so she's clearly known for quite awhile that it was in there so if she really cared she would have already got it because in the shows they take place 6 months after the events of last season unless it's mentioned, so she's had awhile to do something about it but she hasn't and now she suddenly cares, so she goes to retrieve it and somehow manages to find the exact thing she was looking for which is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that's not how junk yards work but whatever yet another leap in logic I'm supposed to have, then conveniently a black hole opens the exact time in the exact spot they're at now this is what really annoyed the absolute ♥♥♥♥ outta me, and that's the fact that Iris ALONE held a full grown man from flying into the black hole, you're seriously telling me that Iris could stand her ground and be fine but a full grown man couldn't and it only sucked just enough to pull the jacket and very few else, sometimes I feel like this show insults my own intelligence
There's so many other things like how Cisco is now being a complete ♥♥♥♥ to Barry for no reason, Cisco's character isn't meant to be a ♥♥♥♥ last time they did that it did not work well at all and now there's beef between Barry and Cisco because clearly Cisco wants nothing to do with S.T.A.R. Labs now that he's normal even though the team really needs him and oh yea it's his job, but because the show needs tension lets have them be at odds against one another.
Next you have Killer Frost and this doctor guy who is literally the most stereotypical baseline villain ever, like there's nothing interesting about him, now I stopped caring about Killer Frost awhile ago as to me her character just became rather pointless and repetitive, but anyways she meets with him because he found a cure for Cancer YAAAAAY but all it requires is Dark Matter and she absolutely refuses and leaves, so she's a ♥♥♥♥♥ for that, because what she should have done was talk to him and say that dark matter is fine to use in the cure as long as the people taking it are fully aware of what can happen to their body as a result, giving people a chance of life with powers or the chance to fight it of or possibly die, I'd get cancer just to get cured and superpowers lmao, and she could have worked with him to make sure if there was a cure that it could be stable, but no, she'd rather leave hundreds of thousands no choice but to die, and of course he refuses to give up and take it and oh my big shocker he didn't do it right and now he's a sub-par villain, yea another plot point that couldn't be more basic and boring, the show needs to go in a new direction and try something new rather than check boxes of previous seasons and repeat similar concepts used on the show in a not so creative way
There was some things I liked though and that being mainly the ending with the Monitor but I can't really give Flash credit for that as it's one major storyline from all the shows together and since it's so huge every show needs to setup for it, anyways I wasn't impressed same cookie cutter stuff they've always done, I hope the season gets better as I'll still be watching, and while I seem extremely negative here it was what it was, if you enjoy previous seasons you'll probably enjoy the episode I just want more from the shows and I want something different not just a copy edit paste formula, anyways let me know what you thought and I'll be back shortly to cover the final season of my favorite show, Arrow Out
