Hello everyone,

Thought I'd send out an invite to everyone who is looking for an ARK Aberration server to play on. A friend of mine has launched a server called The Fallen ARK Aberation [3x XP, 6x Gather, 8x Tame], he'd originally called it the First Ark but I suggested the change to not confuse people into thinking I am still involved in its ownership. In any case if any of the old community members here are looking for a server to play the new DLC on thought I'd send out the information.

For some reason the Scorched server went down and the host couldn't explain why, They are doing an investigation to see what went wrong, but it rebooted itself and now it's better. If anyone needs anything else feel free to message me here!

So The First Ark Island is back up and running I do believe. I've restarted it and it says it's back online. However Scorched Earth just crashed and I again have no options to repair it so I'll have to submit another ticket until I can figure it out:/ I apologize for this but just know I'm doing everything in my power to fix it. We will ARK again soon. For any further questions please ask on steam group and I'll will get to them asap. Thank you for the patience.

Sorry everyone, we just happened to be one of the lucky of five servers that got our servers down due to Streamline Servers issue. However it is back up and ready to be played on. Sorry about the late headsup, the server owner went to work yesterday and I've been stuck sick in bed. Happy surviving:)

Alright I realize the Island server has been down for the day. This is because there is an issue with the watercooling system resulting in the cpu overheating. Streamline is currently having the part replaced, and in the meantime they are moving all the affected servers to a new machine.

Hopefully, they'll have it fixed or moved soon.

So I know I mentioned it in a comment on the previous anouncement but just to make it official, as of 9/4/2016...

Now, inter-ark travel still isn't possible between the two maps for our servers at this moment but I promise I'm working on it and I will have a definitive yes or no about whether its gonna be implemented or not by the end of the week.

Things to Consider
Of course, assuming that it will be possible with our servers, there are some considerations I need to make about how to balance what can and cannot be transferred between maps. As it currently stands I think transffering dinos from the island into Scorched Earth would be a bit imbalanced seeing as part of the draw of Scorched Earth is the brutal nature of how difficult it is to tame anything stronger than a carno or argentavis. Importing t-rexes, quetzals, and gigas onto a map where finding a wild rex is rare just seems like a bit too much and takes away from the experience of the dlc where scarcity is a key element. It really depends on how in depth the controls over the transfer system will be, from what I've seen it looks like I should have the ability to turn on or off the transfer of items, characters, and dinos for each server individually.

Now the whole purpose of linking the worlds is for one ark character to be able to travel across the arks maintaining their level and experience, personally I dont have any issue with the idea of it however I know some people have concerns about how that will affect gameplay on the new map.

My Thoughts on the DLC (If anyone cares to read them :P)
I believe Scorched Earth offers a new experience and so many new opportunities for RP and I am really excited to see what everyone does with it. Its a map that due to its difficulty kind of pushes people together to survive and it'll only get harder once the precious few areas with water begin to get claimed. For me, it has renewed the feeling I used to have for Ark after having gotten burned out on the island having over 1600 hours gameplay. Its well worth the $20 and I know it may be more than people can afford or maybe are willing to pay. I'm considering doing some sort of giveaway of a copy of the dlc maybe I'll hide a box with a note somewhere on the island and the first person to find it and message the number code I have put on the note to me will get a copy. I dunno I'm just thinking out loud.

As far as community events and whatnot I have some ideas that I think could be really fun and I will release more info as I develop them more. Its very hard to balance working on community events like these, admin duties, my own gameplay, all of which has to share the small space of time that isnt dedicated to my real life. I know often times this makes it feel as if the server gets neglected and this is regretable on my part, I simply havent found that balance that allows me to play, administrate, and take a step back from the server, that allows me to not get burnt out.

And with that, I say thank you to all you wonderful players and community members and end this very long winded anouncement.

What the Future Holds

Hey everyone, there are a few things I would like to discuss:

1. Server Slot Decrease

So I know this is something a lot of people have had questions and concerns about, but I would just like to explain why I did this and what it means. Since I brought the server back to the Island map the server has barely even scratched a player population of 30 players, which means we were essentially paying $70 extra a month for slots we werent using. When the population increases the player slots will be increased again.

2. Optional Server Contributions

So the way we've always accepted contributions to the server was via my or CreatorOfDreams stream donation links. This was problematic because a small percentage was always deducted by the donation service. Now, we have a new Public Pay link through the host company that will allow anyone to add credit to the server's account. This way all donations to the server go straight to the server host instead of myself or CreatorOfDreams acting as middle men. This credit cannot be removed by myself or anyone else, not that I ever would, so any credit added will automatically be used for the recurring monthly charges or upgrades. 3. THE NEW DLC!!!

So I realize that this is a paid DLC and not everyone will have it or want it, but personally I think it looks really good. So we are once again faced with a choice, do we keep the server as is, or do we wipe and start fresh on the new map?

The new DLC is obviously a pretty big change with a lot of players looking to experience it and I believe its a chance to grow the server population once again like we did with the Center map.

The downside is obviously that it means our players will need to purchase it in order to play on it and it could conceivably run into the same problems we had with the Center map corrupting the server. Also the DLC seems to be more demanding on pc's than the standrad game so people may experience performance issues.

SO, like with every possible wipe before I'll leave it to a community vote to see how we all would like the server to move forward. So comment below. :)
